Help with installing mock suppressor on AK

Post by blackout » Wed Apr 13, 2011 10:28 pm

Ok so I got a Echo 1 AK74u CPM recently, and was intending to put a mock suppressor on it. However, the flash hider that comes on it has this little pin you have to push to be able to rotate the flash hider. I cannot manage to even move the little pin, I blow dryed it for like 3 minutes, nothing, I got a hammer and punch and tried mildy, nothing. I have no idea why it wont come off, it shows it as simple as pushing the pin and rotating in the manual, but obviously not so. If anyone has any ideas, please help I need this solved before TDC.

Hammer and punch is what I used for mine. Unfortunately there really isn't a better solution.

Pretty much. Also make sure you don't have side pressure from the flashhider itself on that pin; it will be easiest to punch it in if it isn't being forced sideways at the same time.

I'm confused can you explain that more? Also, I don't really have a punch only a hammer whats a good makeshift punch?

A nail, small screwdriver, whatever.

I'm saying make sure the flashhider is not pressing up against the side of that pin until you actually get the pin to pop back in to the front of the barrel.

Ok, and I have to hit the punch at an akward angle since it obviously can't stand straight up, I feel like this makes it harder.
