Royality Tank

Post by Felix » Tue May 31, 2011 4:47 pm

We have come apon a golf cart, and were allowed to do whatever we want to it. We chose airsoft vehicle. Now obviously the oglfcart will need some upgrades, and I was wondering if any car savvy people could help me with these upgrade. A new more powerful battery, tires, motor?, suspense system? And I know the prices and all that i just need some design help, this will be an on going project for a while.

All the airsoft tanks I've seen (based on golf carts) were gas powered. I would foresee electric power being an issue, simply because if you get caught on the other side of the field with a dead battery you can't just pop the cap and pour in some more gas.

Solve it like a gun? Have and extra?

But how would you change that? Gut the entire thing and put in a completly new system?

Shes dirty, old, and needs new parts. Heres the basic design, undercarrage, and right side.

Where are you located, i might be able to help a little bit, and i might be able to get you some scrap plywood if you need it or any other building materials.

Lexington, and we gotta get the design down first in drafting then we will start getting the materials, after the golf cart is up as high as it can go.

Suspension is going to probably be your biggest issue next to the power source. While it should have no problem carrying 3-4 guys in full gear, once you add in the plywood and other extra material, it could get a bit heavy for it's own suspension. and that could be problematic off road. My suggestion would be to probably get firmer springs.

As is though, it could be a rather nice quick response troop transport. it would just suck if you had to drive through a firefight.

I estimated a large 1500-2000 pounds MAX. thats 4 300lb people and extra weight from plywood. And yeah suspension is needed.

I weigh 170. My best friend weighs like 210. The guy I would have gunning weighs like 190. I think 300 is a gracefull overestimate for those I dont know that want to go play on our new toy.

It will kill the *poop* out of batteries. and you can't just pop the battery door and change it out...It has 4-8 car like batteries most likely.

Its probably way to much money even if it is possible. You are better off just using the body of the cart and hopefully finding a gas motor that would fit.
