Custom Felix-Made Hand-grip

Post by Felix » Tue Aug 16, 2011 12:23 pm

So I got bored today, and remembered a picture somewhere on Google of someone who created their own hand grip using a dremel. It looked good from what i remembered, so I thought to create the same effect with a solder iron. Difference being instead of dremeling the small holes, leaving no residue, the iron melted the plastic into small rings around each hole, which i sanded a small amount afterwards. I did it first on my LPEG to see what it would do. Obviously the plastic is more.. plasticy.. than other guns. But for others ill probably try a dremel.

Here are some of the finished shots.

When painted over with, this is what it looks like:

How does it look, would the iron work on better guns (Echo1 M28 maybe?), and would a dremel do better?

EDIT:
I took my M28 down and put three small holes to test it. Compared to the LPEG, the holes took a lot more pressure to make the same size and the outer residue ring of plasic was very minimal, making this even better for guns like that. ITS A CURE FOR BARE HANDED SWEATY PEOPLE!

About 2 and a half hours of sitting. Also if you want to try this for yourself PLEASE have a fan and a facemask. The smells have got to be poisoness

This is called stippling, and is very popular in the Austrian hand grenade community.

mmmmmmmm, feet.

But yes +1 for custom grips. That looks pretty good. I've got someone's M14 lying around, I think I'll try it out on that. :p

Its very time consuming and annoying, but very easy to do. Theres also a big difference between the LEPG and the real good bodies. the real ones look better with smaller residue!!

And if you want i could do it for you..? :) for money of course.

Yeah im surprised no ones commented on my targe- i mean dog.

lol, I didn't even notice the dog.

And sure, you can do it, but since it's your M14, does that mean you'll pay me?

Angelmaker did that to one of his legendary CA M24s way back in the day. Cool concept. I wouldn't pay someone to do it, four hours of labor isn't cheap.

Yeah its a painn to do. Ive put at least 4hrs so far on my M28 and i have one more side to go.

I just did one side of the foregrip and finished the handle. I need to figure out a way of replicating it just right on the other side.

I am just CLUTTERING this thread with my pictures :P

Personally I wouldn't pay someone to BURN holes into my plastic housing on my precious ASR... But if you want to start a grip-fabricating business venture, good luck!
