SHS KWA high speed project... I need help!

Post by Mohawk » Sun Apr 08, 2012 5:33 pm

Ok I've built my sr7 pretty well and I love it but I miss my super high speed g&p so I want to turn the kwa into a cousin of the g&p. Its pretty much stock internally with the exeption of new wiring, deans, new piston head and a m100 spring. I have been looking at the shs stuff, I've desided if I do anything I want to use their 13:1 gears and either their hs motor or g&p's hs motor since I've used it before and I loved it. Please give me tips, obviously I know I'll need some shims but do I have to get a short stroked piston to match the gears? Also who wants to help me shim it? That's one job I will admit to needing help with, the rest I can do myself. It will be running on an 11.1v 15c 1000mah all the time since that's the only battery that fits in my stock. My last question is as long as its shimmed and aoe'd correctly will it last or am I looking at something I'll be needing to fix after every game? Thanks y'all!

You won't need a short stroked piston, but you should use a full metal tooth piston. Polycarb tooth pistons will fail too early to be worth it.

Either myself or Dominum can help you shim it, we've both got threads to help you out in the services section of the forum.

Er, that battery is very, very small. The SHS high torque, and any of the G&P Motors won't take kindly to it because of how small it is. I would suggest a JG Blue or a TerminusX Omega Torque motor. Those two are very torque-y and designed to run on next to nothing batteries.

I would also consider picking up an M120, and short stroking the gears/piston. Those gears + any torque motor will likely give you double shots on semi, and at the very least will have a great deal of over spin.

Shimming and AoE, along with a prepared piston, and you'll be golden. That battery isn't going to damage your trigger contacts, and this set up isn't extreme enough to cause any stress if mods are done properly.

I was planning on using a high speed motor instead of the ht because of the battery

A high speed motor would be worse, because they need even more power than a high torque motor would.
