I just got the kwa sr12 and i was wondering since i dont know how to shim and i do enjoy taking gearboxes apart and overhauling parts into it. I heard somewhere that kwa gearboxes use an 8mm and 2 9mm gears or something like that if i were to chip the gears do they make any replacements for kwa gearboxes.

The only propriatary parts in the gearbox is the hop up chamber and air nozzel. You can replace them, but if you replace one then you have to replace both. So you really shouldnt mess with those, along with the cylinder head. Everything else can be replaced with version 2 parts. Plus, the gears are nearly indestructable...

All 6 bearings are 9mm. And if something breaks, you can contact KWA for replacements.

Absolutly you can, but why would you? KWA pistons are some of the strongest polycarbon pistons I've ever seen. And the piston head is already metal, so no point in replacing. If it ain't broke, then don't fix it!

Do you know how to google for information on your own? I found the answer to the question with the first result that popped up when I searched "Do KWA gearboxes have ported piston heads?", but I'll let you take that 3 seconds of effort yourself.

No, it's not ported. And from what I've heard, some pistons do not fit the KWA gearbox as the rails on the sides are different. And also some cylinders may not fit. But both of these are easily fixable with some dremeling. As for me, I haven't encountered these problems yet and I've tried a lot of different parts in my SR12. I have found that it performs better with its stock parts though, so I wouldn't waste any money on other parts. The only thing I would do is fix the AoE with a 1/4" 70D Sorbo pad from ClandestineAirsoft.com and rewire with mosfet, deans, and 16GA wiring. I currently have mine running with that exact setup shooting almost 500 with a m130 spring and ~250 feet range with an R-Hop. I did change the motor to a G&P Devil Jet as well.
