What scope rings work for my M14.

I have a scope from an old .22. The scope rings are too small to fit on my M14. I have been trying to figure out which rings to buy. Is it 1" or 30mm??? I was so confused. I tried to figure it out the last couple nights.

All the scope rings I know of fit on normal rails. Just about any you pick up from a store should fit on the gun, as they are just bolting to the rail. The 1" or 30mm is the size of the tube, or scope. Some are 1" in diameter, some are 30mm.

Boss, are you talking about the mounts not fitting on the rails? Could be that your scope rings are made to mount on either a dovetail rail (what you see on top of mp5's, g3's, hunting rifles and shotguns), and if not that, on a weaver rail (the type of rails you commonly see on m4's and m16's). The two do not mix and match well for fitting one on the other. You can get a dovetail mount to fit a weaver rail, but it will not stay very secure.

yessir the scope came off a .22 and are way too small to fit on the M14 rail. I am trying to figure out which rings I could buy

If you are looking for real steel, just get anything that says "Weaver Mount", and you should be good.
