P90 Wire Harness

Post by Esteban » Sat Jan 19, 2013 10:30 pm

Hello everyone,

I have an Echo 1 P90 I'm working on making even a better CQB gun. I've got an M95 spring in there which puts it around 310FPS w/ 0.20g. I just ordered a TM EG1000 after trying out my other TM EG1000 in the gun.

That being said, I'm happy with the gearbox EXCEPT for the wire harness. The thing is a cheap clear plastic thing, like here...

Now, I've taken apart the gearbox a good number of times (since it's so easy to work on) and this has resulted in cracks around the three screw points on the wire harness as seen here...

I put a couple of shims to distribute the pressure of the screw as a temporary fix.
My question is whether or not I can find a replacement harness or even an upgraded one? Echo 1 is no longer making the E90, and I'm having trouble finding a replacement.

Occasionally the semi-auto seems to hang up a little bit, and I think it may be because of the cracks at the screw points pushing the wire harness and trigger mechanism away from the trigger bar.

I figured I'd ask you guys since Dom has a tremendous amount of experience with P90s.

It's actually POM, not cheap plastic. Regardless, it is clearly cracked and you aught to replace it anyway since I have always found the entire wiring harness of any non-TM P90 to be inferior and often lose the ability to properly change from semi to full and what not. I would highly reccomend finding a TM wiring harness from somewhere, probably used. I have not researched the commercial availability of P90 wiring harnesses, so your Googlefu would suffice as much as mine. MOSFETs are more important on P90s because when the contacts start to burn out you will have trouble with fire selection, as opposed to most other AEGs where you can get away with half burnt contact for a while with no drawback but a longer trigger pull.

A lot of people say they have trouble with fire selection. I put some zip-ties on the end of the trigger bar to push the contacts closer together with the semi option. It's working perfectly, but I want to make my own FET setup.

I was just wondering if you found any replacement wiring harnesses. I'd rather not buy an entire gun just for the harness piece. I was thinking about just replacing all the wiring with stranded instead of solid-core wiring.

That will help with trigger response, and can help with fire selection issues sometimes. I did something similar, but wrapped electical tape tightly around the trigger bar for the same effect you got with zip ties. Rewiring it manually would probably be worth the effort.
