RHop on a low fps setup.

Post by MrBlond » Thu Jul 25, 2013 11:22 am

Everything i have read on rhop said it was for heavier rounds and such. At a lower fps the contact time would be longer and i would think less stress on the gearbox so more consistency. I would think the results would be more consistent hop up can anyone confirm what would happen a sub 350 fps setup with .25s?

R hop is fine for low fps set ups. Some people have managed to get a good hop on even a .12 gram bb. You might be thinking of the ER hop, which is used for heavier rounds

Sub 350 with .25s isn't really a low fps set up. People use that all the time, I would throw an estimate than 60-80% of the guns in the state shoot in that area, and I know quite a few of them have r-hops, along with the plethora of people who have put r-hops in their own guns shooting in similar areas.

Your results are dependent on the quality of the install, air seal, and bbs used, not the fps.

Same with an ER-hop. It's not fps dependent, it's weight dependent. There's a reason it's advertised for bbs greater than .30gs. Ideally, it's good for .4s. And while you might have some awesome range and accuracy, your bbs will still float to their targets, not to mention, .4s and full auto are something to consider.

FYI: While a less powerful spring does translate generally to less stress on most internal components for (obvious reasons), that does NOT necessarily translate into more FPS consistency. The consistency of the FPS is primarily based on the air seals between various components, and on the consistency of the manufacture of the BBs, barrel, etc.

i.e. consistency breeds consistency.
