Muting a Bolt action Rifle

Alright people, just looking for some information and a little help on as to how to mute the sound of a bolt action rifle.
If you could give the build info ( internals and externals ) or any kown proven ways to dampen the sound of a boltie would be awesome! Thank you guys!

Fill any empty areas in the stock with dense foam. Apply a thick Sorbo pad in the cylinder head. Add a foamed filled silencer. These mods will dampen the sound dramatically.

After that, start upgrading your parts to PDI or Laylax. The better quality parts will help with sound as well, but nothing to noticeable.

Just to add a little specificity: Make sure the foam in the suppressor is very low density, and that the barrel DOES NOT protrude past the foam, the BB and the extra air need to pass by the foam, not through a metal tube surrounded by foam.

i have a laylax zero trigger with the orange piston, and a teflon cylinder set with an sp170 spring. and just curious, what length of suppressor should i look at getting, (wondering if the hop applied to the bb as it exits the chamber will hit the end of the silencer and alter its course, after exiting the inner barrel----thats my concern) also could you give me an example of the foam to put in the stock versus the foam to put in the silencer. Currently i have a mattress foam topper cut up and used for foaming the stock, is this good or bad for the foam I need?

You shouldn't have that issue with a suppressor unless something is misaligned. That being said, there's no sense in getting a really long suppressor.

By density we mean the mass (that isn't air) to volume ratio. High density means less bubbles and more mass that isn't air, low density is the opposite; lots of larger bubbles and less mass that is not air. An example of high density would be the dense foam that motors and tune up kits are often packaged in. I'm not sure about a good example of low density, but I can show you what I mean at a game next time.

Where can I obtain this kind of foam? Walmart didn't have squat diddly.
