I'm not sure if I'll do it or not, at the moment I'm just curious. If I were to turn my KWA sr12 into a "DMR", about how long do you think it would last before having a catastrophic failure? I would want to be within 20 fps of the max limit for AOSC. I'm talking about as stock as it can get, with exception to a JG Blue motor, stronger spring, r-hop, better piston, and better battery. And I guess an estimate with cylinder head sorbo and AOE adjustments factored in as well.

Well, your weak points are the shell, gears, bearings, and trigger contacts assuming you use a battery strong enough to run the system. I'm really not sure what would fail first, probably the bearings though.

I guess those bearings would break fairly quick. Say I got bushings instead. Any idea on the number of rounds before failure?

Its not worth finding out. While you're dropping in bushings, you'll want to radius the gearbox, and add sorbo to absorb some of the impact of the heavy spring you will need. None of that costs very much. The gears and piston are your most expensive purchases, which you 100% need to make before you upgrade to 20fps within the limit.
Mosfet might take the most work to install, but you can probably also get one of those for only 20 bucks or so

Personally I would not bother going half-way on this project. You can build an old-school brute force DMR for a fraction of what it used to cost. You could theoretically spend less than $100 on the gears, piston, and assorted mechanical parts to do this.

Well, besides everything mentioned above if you use
www.clandestineairsoft.com you can get an shs 15 tooth piston 9$ shs 18;1 GEARS 20ish, piston head 5$, and they have sorbo and decent mosfets.
