My LAW

Post by stormchaser1 » Wed May 26, 2010 7:35 pm

I made a airsoft LAW, which I hope I can use at the Airfarm.

LAW test (airsoft)

I hope a video is okay.

The only thing gas/compressed air launchers are allowed for is shooting buildings or vehicles. While the Air Farm has some small structures, they are so few and so small that it wouldn't be worth the effort of hauling it around. The only fields in SC where it would be useful would be Red Fox (Mile High, Silverado City) and Trigger Tyme (various forts, towers, villages).

That previous statement is based on the assumption that you use a Nerf rocket or something like that. Is that the case, or are you shooting BBs? If you shoot BBs, then you could really use it at any field.

I am making a thing so I can switch it out between BBs and rockets.  I was making a rocket but it was too heavy and very hard so I am not using that one.  But I may get some Nerf ones soon.

I assume that is schedule 40 2" PVC? If so, shorten your compression chamber to 12"-14", that's all you need. 60-80 PSI for short range and 100-120 PSI for long range at the aforementioned volume is ideal, any larger and the excess is lost after the projectile has already left the barrel, so all it does is cause recoil and a louder boom. How are you pressurizing it, and what are you using to release the air? As far as firing BBs out of it, hit me up at a game and I will show you how to make APDS (anti personnel discarding sabot) rounds that can be loaded with 100-700 BBs, depending on the size of your barrel and what you use for the sabot sleeve. They can have a range of several hundred feet.

I am using a 1inch ball valve to release the air.  I am using a bicycle pump, but hope to get something else soon.  Thanks for the advice.  i will be at the Airfarm game on the 26th.  Mine friend has one too.  It shoot rockets the he made.  It doesn't seem to hurt when he shoots it.
