Felix's Scratchpost

So, I saw a few new products for sale and I decided to pick up a new project, a slam-firing Echo 1 M28. O-ring on the piston is way too big, which has caused the slam-firing I believe. She started out as a normal black M28, then I started to mess with her. This is where the project is at the moment, and will be updated as it moves forward.

Just like all of my other rifles (M28, M14) I decided to give it a better feel. Thus it became my Scratchpost. Used a broken Exacto knife attachment to a solder wand. Took about an hour for each piece, totaling 3 hours or so.

Using the limited amount of paint I had, I decided to go with a stock paint job, with the rest of the rifle blacked out. I used some Krylon plastic spray paints, a dark brown, dark green, and a light tan. I think it came out alright. Currently drying as of now.

Slam firing is usually the sear or the piston. I would have personally just stuck with the scratch post and went from there. Can't wait for phase Three

I didn't like the grey on black, but then again I needed more paint.

Three might take a while, we will see. All dependent on funds.

:( I gotta say, I felt like the older style of stippling you used looked more useful. How does the scratch style feel in comparison?

Older style: (also older M28!)

The difference is phenomenal. Where the old one was just holes, it made it feel uneven and stuck my hand more. But the ridges made in this one dont feel uneven as the holes were, mainly because it was the same technique and depth throughout the whole thing. Plus I think this looks better. This style feels like your holding a little better griptape on it or something.

Also, picture of the build and where it is at has been updated to the OP

Excellent, since I approve of all things practical no matter how they look, I am glad you found a better option!

I can tell you this. I did a LOT better job on this one than I did the old one. Also did it in half the time! You can see the diferences between them at the grip and the length of the side cuts.
