Knowing how that gun performs, I think I'll go buy myself a Matrix Mag. Motor.

actually steevols i would not go with a 6.01 mm barrel if you want long range accuracy and reliabilty, the best barrel diameter for long range accuracy is a 6.03mm and it is gonna be a lot more reliable in the cold and if it gets dirty, not perfectly smooth bb, ect. The reason I say this is because I frequent the airsoft sniper forum (for fun) and they all use 6.03mm barrels because for some reason they give better accuracy and shot to shot consistantacy than the 6.01mm. and in AEG DMRs they also use SCS shredders nub in the hop up. From what I have seen and used these really increase your range (the SCS nub) and consistantacy

just my .02 cents

I'm pretty set on a DB Customs 6.01, and already have/plan on using the SCS. Tightbore diameters are a source of endless contention, aren't they? ;D

From what I have seen, read, researched, and experienced myself, 6.03 barrels are better than 6.01 barrels. The research that I have read shows that when a bb flies down a barrel, after hitting the hop up, it basically rolls along the top of the barrel. As more bbs go through the barrel, it will get dirtier. With a 6.01, as the barrel gets dirtier, the bbs will start to come in contact with the sides of the barrel. This messes up the back spin, adding a little different direction, creating less accurate shots. The reason 6.03 or even 6.05s are better for long range shots is that there is less likely a chance that the bb will hit the sides of the barrel, keeping it's normal rotation along the top of the barrel. As the barrel gets dirtier, it doesn't effect the bb as much as it would in the 6.01.

It also seems that the quality of the barrel has a greater effect on the accuracy than the bore size itself. Having a perfectly smooth inner barrel will allow for a more perfect rotation of the bb through the barrel. Inconsistencies of the inner barrel will throw off accuracy a lot more than dirt will. That's one of the reasons tightbores are such an upgrade in stock guns, the stock barrel isn't as smooth or straight, as the tightbore barrel is. To see the effects of changing to different tightbores, you have to have an already highly tuned replica to see the differences they would make.

And while I'm at it, I saw it brought up on another thread, but barrel length is only important to a point, because of the bb bouncing around inside of the barrel. After the bb goes through the hop up, it bounces around a bit before the hop up stabilizes and it rolls along the top of the barrel. If the barrel is too short, the the bb won't have had time to stabilize and won't be as accurate. A barrel being too long won't hurt accuracy, given everything else is set up properly to support having the longer barrel. But having that much more of a barrel, you have that much more of a chance that there is an imperfection within the barrel. I think the bb stops bouncing around at 350-400mm down the barrel. I don't remember exactly.

If you guys want more info, I suggest checking out the Sniper section of Airsoft mechanics or the Airsoft Sniper Forum, as those are where most of my info comes from.

Great post, those are three of the most common misconceptions I hear all the time, and now I can just link to this post instead of restating myself. I would +1 you...

PSG-1 is active.

It has the 400% ftk.

Sort of seems like a lower spring though, as it only cronoed at 476fps with .25s. (on every shot, thanks to the v4 gearbox)

edit: yes it had only the 300% spring in it.

No offense intended/taken.
But I do agree with you. Especially to think that Steevo is carrying a gun that has an M160 spring in it. * shudders *
