Re: Vietnam Patrol [MilSim Op] Sept. 28/29th
As a rule of thumb, if people show up 30 minutes earlier, than they do for work, then the games would start sooner. However with players coming in not prepared, socializing, and/or "on-time", no event will start with out the host just starting the show on-time as stated.
During briefings, stay quiet and listen to the rules and/or missions. Not talk over or socialize then. Be in the briefing in full gear, so we can move out right after all questions are answered.
When I brief, I will not talk over others! I have just stopped and looked at all the players until it got quiet. And only one person does the briefing. Not two or more!
And my last thing is simple! We are playing military style war games. That means time management! If you are running the game, please don't try to make sure every one is ready. Just start like clock work. Punish with time. If a player comes late. They wait! Not the ones that came on time! If a player cannot make the briefing on time. They wait! And if a player is not showing some "military bearing" (proper manners), during briefing or social times. They wait!
If you want to have fun, then allow others to have fun! I care less about winning or losing. I care about safety, respect, integrity, and have fun with like minded people.
It's a hobby, not a sport!

For this event I have extra staff in place to run registration and chrono, and staff that will remain to register and chrono late persons, who will then have to wait to take the field until being properly briefed. i.e. if you are on time and ready, the slow players will not hold up your game. Also, those who are late WILL be paying the $30 field fee. Time and time again we all stress how important it is to be on time and prepared, yet it almost seems like half the players do and are then upset due to the late start, and half of the players don't but then want everyone to wait on them. This is a big boy game, if you can't be on time and ready, you'll be registering/chronoing/going through a late person's briefing while everyone else is already playing through the first set of missions.
Also, I have prepared more staff at this game to assist with the game mechanics and will have not only Reps playing, but also certain experienced players that I will have privately given authority to. Anyone, anywhere at any time could be watching you to see if you follow the rules. Safety violations will be met with immediate action, which at the very least will mean standing next to an admin for an hour, if not ejection from the game.
Bring your A game for tough missions that will constantly give your platoon an immediate challenge; be on time and ready to go; read, understand and obey all the rules at all times; expect a fantastic MilSim game.
