Re: Operation Palmetto Overture Dec 7 - GTI training Barnwel
To echo the aforementioned posts, a lot of the rules don't jive well. I've been to AMS games, and I know they have a good track record. I had a blast at Faded Giant last year, and I'm willing to pay more for a game where I know I'll have fun. So at a minimum I'm going to FG2, and maybe this game, just for the AO experience.

MEDs? Do they exist or is it all CQB?
Stealth/Safety kills?
hoss to answer your question no there are no meds and no safety kills either. i questioned the organizers about this when i had dinner with them and his answer was:"does the military have engagement distances and does the military have safety kills?" i know 400 sounds like alot up close but in all honesty its not that bad. i have played cqb fields wear 400 was the limit and its not as bad as you think. keep in mind the owner of oprc is ex special forces and tries to run his games like the military to make it as real as possible.

-No MED (Incentive for better tactics)
-400 fps max w/ .25g BB (Incentive not to get shot)
-GTI facility
-Low cost
Cons:
-ROE
-Can only respawn with your squad
-3 chapters of rules with "LACE" calculations, WTF
-Too much "LARP" (The last thing I care about are Role-Players)
Semi-Auto only indoors... ehhh... kinda lame but not really a factor.
What am I supposed to do with my support gunner indoors? GTI is 90% CQB Indoors and vertical.
Having been to GTI, the RC respawn rules are fubar... your squad will spend most of the day escorting its dead to and from respawn.
What happens when these "Actors" come up playing their roles and my squad mows them down cause we don't have time for non-combatant bullshit?
Someone sell me on this...
if you read the rule book you will see that support weapons are allow to be full auto. only non support weapons are on semi. as far as your question goes about civilians if thats the attitude you take then this isnt a game for you. the game organizer is ex special forces and tries to run his games just like the military to make it as real as possible. i know this type of game may not be suitable for all players but it is going to be as close to the real thing as humanly possible. something that no other organizer that i know of does

I love this answer....I am in all agreement with it
We run at 360 FPS no MED for our CQB area

Well, it being cold and wearing layers of clothes might help a little.

Yeah rnzilla... and then there was an entire AAR thread full of complaints about being shot at that FPS and having tons of bleeding bruises. The entire AAR was practically taken over by complaints from players that would have been solved by a more normal, and proven safe, limit having been used instead.
As far as the guy answering by equating no MEDs and no safety kills to being more realistic... I mean, come on, do I really have to point out what a ridiculous argument that is? There also are no respawns IRL, and you can't be magically healed with a bandage in 30 seconds after taking a dozen 7.62 rounds to the face either. Airsoft can't be real life, or we'd die while playing it. MEDs exist for safety reasons, only masochists want to come home from an airsoft game covered in blood so they can show off how "tough" they are by acting like they have no problem with it. The point of airsoft isn't to try to show off how low your pain tolerance is, it's to have a fun combat simulation game, while not risking the real death and injury involved in actual combat. You have to draw the line somewhere, and most people agree no MEDs at that FPS is a bad place to put the line. At Southern Comfort I think the limit was about the same as at this game, and someone accidentally shot me in the head and forehead under his MEDs. It was an honest mistake, but I missed an entire hour of a very expensive game because there was so much blood I couldn't see and they pulled me off the field. This game is CQB... so basically I have the choice of wearing an armored suit all day (and passing out from heat stroke), or coming away with tons of bleeding bruises and probably bleeding a lot. It's not only unpleasant and impractical, but unsafe. No thanks.

Just a FYI.... ....Read from the bottom up.
Please be aware that the RAMPS Handbook does not state any maximum bb weight.
They've probably been using their rules for years without any issues but I do not care to be the first.
Everyone have fun.

ah....we only allow .25s and blow unless you are a sniper, and that is up to .5s at greater than 99 Feet
I was under the assumption you was talking AEGs.

Hi Monty,
Thanks for the info.
A quick follow up to it.
I can use .40bbs as long as I shoot 400FPS (or lower) with them, correct?
Thanks.

400 fps with .25gs and 400 fps w/ .43 is quite different, I'd say.
"I don't worry about the weights"
Well damn.

Also, he said you can't use anything higher than a .25 in anything but a sniper rifle. Yeah, sure, I was already on the edge about this game, but I think I'm going to have to pass. If only FG2 wasn't so expensive...
