Battlefield BC2

Post by Joshua » Fri Jan 29, 2010 11:42 pm

Watcha guys think of it? Just got all the guns unlocked for the demo and am very happy with the game. Really feels like the old BF2 for the pc. Much smoother and the vehicles are an actual thread now, not like in BC1 where every soldier had a lazor designator. Over all the demo gets a 5/5 from me.

I think this game has all the same isses as the first.

Just name the main things about the Bad Company Series I don't like;
Firstly, Movement. Seems like your characters movement when not moving striaght forward seems like he's tripping over his own feet. Its jerky, Often its jerky in all the wrong times like when your attempting to hide from an armored enemy.

The clipping on this game is stupid bad. Walk over a twig, You get stuck...Go figure.

Why even add the feature to use weapon sights. Appears anything over 50 yards in the game is impossible to kill without a sniper rifle.

The main thing that makes the game just completely unplayable for me, There is no bullet penetration. None...

Played the demo this morning and over all I will not be wasting 60 bucks on this game. Its one giant bug in glitchy software.

I give it a 1/5

It's a shame there are so many issues with this. I'm on PC so I haven't been able to play it yet, but after all the gameplay videos I'd seen I was planning on buying this.

Edit: Just realized the PC beta started... I will give it a chance after all.

After playing it yesterday, I noticed a lot of what Wunder said. Those kind of problems have definitely been around since BC1 though. Hopefully they will deliver with their customer support and fix at least some of these issues eventually.

How is the bullet damage compared to BC1? I can remember emptying an entire mag in someone and they survive.

Also, can you go prone, or are we still limited to crouching?

I think bullet damage is better if you have some degree of accuracy...as well as prone, well BC still doesn't train their soldiers to lie down  :-[

The bullet damage is MUCH better than BC1. What used to be a whole mag into someone, now is only 3-2 well placed shots. Skilled snipers can drop people a few hundred yards off with 1 bullet. 2 if you hit arms or legs. Center mass and heads are almost always a kill. Also if your a good distance, you now have to take into account the bullet drop, not just leading. Makes it a little more about skill than just lucky timing. Destruction is much better, when a building is going down, it has a noticeable creaking noise as well as verbal warning. Over all I like and it I bought it last night.

I just got a serial for the PC beta yesterday and played it for about 4 hours last night. While the PC version is pretty much a crappy port of the console version, it is a *lot* of fun. I didn't run in to any of the clipping issues, and I found the bullet damage and trajectories to be a good balance between realism and fun.

To me, it feels like a mashup of classic BF2 and Modern Warfare.

I'm probably going to DL it since I'm snowed in with nothing better to do, but can anyone tell me if 1 out of every 5 kills made by the AI is done with the defibrillator (or shock paddle as they like to call it) like in the PC BF2?  I always lol'd at that.

EDIT:
Played about 20 minutes and deleted it.  Same shit with a different name.  Everything looks like garbage and the animations are as stupid as ever.  It's obvious there was no motion capturing, and being bound to their half-baked class selection system rounds out a seriously terrible gaming experience.  I really hate talking trash about stuff like this, but I honestly couldn't find any reason to play for more than a few minutes.

Only two more days till this game comes out... hopefully it will be a MW2 killer, I am tired of being quick scoped and drop shotted.

I've been playing the beta for two weeks, and I can quick-scope and drop-shot with the best of them. :\

Lots of new trailers and stuff on their web site.  Are most people here getting the PC version or console?
