Re: What do you do?
I'm currently a graduate student in the Master's of Arts in Teaching Physics program as USC (translation: I'm going to be a high school physics teacher).
I've got a degree in physics and mathematics and I work as a T.A. in the USC physics department and as a Computer Lab Consultant at the campus library (sounds nice, sure, but I spend most of the day showing older folks how to use word/firefox).

I am and have been a diesel mechanic for 20+ yrs. I currently work for UPS Freight(old Overnite Transportation.) I also have a lawn and tree service on the side. This funds my airsoft habit. I am also a single parent of 3 kids. I also served in the USMC in the late 80's.
I love the Corps for those intangible possessions that cannot be issued: pride, honor, integrity, and being able to carry on the traditions for generations of warriors past. [Cpl. Jeff Sornig, USMC; in Navy Times, November 1994]

Re: What do you do?
I have a bachelors in Criminal Justice from USC but unfortunately am not really using my degree. I have been at a lighting fixture manufacturer/distributor for thirteen years. I have done customer returns, quality control, investigations of customer inquiries and complaints, customer service, and replacement parts.
Most of our sales are for new homes and renovations, but you all know how bad the housing market is right now. Our business dropped a huge amount. We laid off about 30% of our workers and had to take 11% pay cuts.

Current Location: University of South Carolina, Columbia Campus
Major: Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration
I am currently unemployed since the U.S. goverment does not let me get any real job worth getting with an F-1 Visa, also known as Student Visa.
However, I should be able to acquire a Green Card this summer. We'll see what happens from that point.

Currently, I'm a job-hopper. Working on remedying that though. Just have to find something I like enough to stick with it.

I have a BS in civil engineering from Clemson (graduated last May), but I'm having a very difficult time finding a job. In the mean time, I'm working part time at Best Buy and for my dad's HVAC company.

I'm in school right now, studying for my B.A. in music. I play in several bands: KT and Friends in Camden, Along For The Ride here in Columbia, my personal favorite: The Matt Autrey Trio, and I have a solo acoustic project. I play music a LOT. I work during the days at St. Andrew's Multi-Cinema, as a projectionist, to fund Airsoft. Music is obviously my passion.

Re: What do you do?
Hmmm, where to start. Back in the day, I went to LSU for pre-med in microbiology. Being young and adventurous, I only went 2 years before I joined the Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman. After A school, the class went FMF (Fleet Marine Force) during Desert Shield which turned into Desert Storm. If some do not know, the Marine Corp does not have their own medical personel. Anytime you see a Marine yell medic, they are refering to a Navy Corpsman. Following that stent, I actually got into a C school where I specialized in Urology with emphesis on Operating Room procedures but also did minor surgical procedures, xrays, lab work. Spent the next 4 years as a first assistant in the O.R. doing all kinds of surgeries. Basicly, I assisted the doctor since many procedures required 2 but only 1 was availible and an assistant..me. Got out and decided I had enough of the medical profession. Went back to school for IT (BS Computer Science) then got a job with General Electric as a Network Engineer where I received my Cisco, Microsoft,Novell and so forth certifcations. Basicly, they just contracted networking services for large companies like Belks in Charlotte and at BMW in Greer. They closed our office in Columbia and off to job hunting I went.
Found what I've been at for the past 9 years. A network administrator for a large wine/liquor distribution company. I'm based out of SC but we have warehouses in 13 states. Whew, guess that about covers it but the adventure still continues.
