I like cats because they are independent and can take care of themselves.

I have also had dogs, but I think more fond of them after they have passed on.  I kind of forgot how stupid they were when they would get wound around a tree and not be able to walk the other way, bite the mailman, attack the neighbors, knock my little brother down and hump him, etc.  Come to think of it he was a good dog.  He died the day I left home and have never had another one.

German Shepherds have to be my favorite breed.... got stupid close to getting a $1000+ Czech bred German shepherd puppy for free from one of my mom's coworkers who used to breed them, but mom said no because we already had a dog

cats are more like roommates....indpendent or not...they will bother the hell out of you when they are hungry, eventho they kill stuff and bring it to your door....EAT UR KILL and leave me alone.

I used to have a beautiful Golden Retriever. She was the best pet I have ever had. It really bothered me that she passed away, but it was the best for her as she had a tumor. My Aunt and Uncle have her sister from her litter and I get to see her every once in a while so part of my pup is still around.

The next dog I want to get will either be a great dane or a black lab.

I don't see why you WOULDN'T want a dog like that.
