Re: Before airsoft
Like others, airsoft didn't really replace anything. I still do these things.
Video Games (mostly MW2 and NCAA '10 on xbox)
Reading
Weight lifting
Played lacrosse for a little while
Enjoying friends, family, girlfriend
Real steel shooting

Before I played:
Video games, and a lot of them. It's still somewhat of a passion of mine. I try to see every game for what it is, what it could be, the funny things about them, the realism (of the ones that intend on it), but my favorites are the really weird ones that never make it into bigtime popularity. Probably one of my all time favorites was Steel Battalion (or Tekki) for the original Xbox. That's one hell of a game.
I shot on my High School's marksmanship team for 3 years. My best score was 262/300. I don't know if it's still the record but it would have put me at the top of the national postals in my senior year. Oh, and it should be worth mentioning that we were a sporter team, not a precision team, so 262 isn't too shabby.
I used to go to a lot of 'underground' music shows at Ground Zero in Spartanburg before they took a nose dive and started sucking. Scene kids, posers, etc also kinda ruined the fun of it, but I actually used to be one of those dudes you'd see in a mosh pit, believe it or not. My best friend used to do a lot of the booking (Pistols booking) but since Mick (the guy who runs the place) fired him their shows have pretty much gone to crap.
Now that I play airsoft, video gaming is about the only other hobby I've got. It's relatively inexpensive in comparison, you can do it when you're snowed in (like right now), and you can play online, which is nice most of the time.

Re: Before airsoft
LOTS of paintball, every weekend, sponsored teams, tourneys on the weekends, everything. That was pretty much all I did.
I'm like the internet version of that awesome uncle you always thought did drugs but could never prove.

Re: Before airsoft
I was born in California then moved to North Carolina when I was 7. That is when I got a pretty cool stray dog that I had until he died the day I left home. I started playing soccer while I was home schooled for a year and found I liked the kids in my public school more than staying at home all the time. I also learned how to play Chess at this age and it took me two years to beat my dad.
Ninth grade I stepped up my soccer program to be year round. I played for the school during the fall, indoor with a private team, and spring soccer with the recreational department. I had a couple girlfriends during this period and got into some trouble. It was during my high school years that I got my love of strategic table top games like Magic the Gathering, Axis and Allies, and anything else you could play competitively. I was also first seat trombone.
After I graduated from high school I attended a small private Christian college where I had a walk on scholarship for soccer. I met two other cool chicks during my short stay there. After one semester I was told to pay $6000 myself for the next semester due to my extremely low gpa. I did a cost benefit analysis and determined $6000 wasn't worth being there another semester. I also did not have $6000 so it was a moot point.
I went to a factory to work and drank beer every night I was off work. This was not the life for me so I put in a two weeks notice and joined the Army. I helped form a gang called Smoke Dogz and we had a good time through basic training and AIT. It was during my extremely long AIT that I decided to go Airborne. I wanted to be more of a badass, get over my fear of heights, get paid $150 extra a month and get stationed in NC instead of Korea. I also got proposed to at this time and accepted.
I spent the next 5 years kicking ass and taking names in the 82nd Airborne Division. Had a child after Sept 11th 2001. Then got out of the Army three years later. I then went to a local community college to use my GI Bill. They did not have all the classes I wanted to take so I went to a different community college in a neighboring town. This is about the time I got into Airsoft so you do not want to know about the rest.

Re: Before airsoft
Before I discovered airsoft I spent most of my time wishing there was such a thing, and generally having no life. Then I was told to "Get a life", and here I am.
