So, almost every gamer here plays Skyrim, so, here is a Skyrim discussion thread, meant for discussion of Skyrim.

So, as a discussion starter, what kind of chracters do you guys play? I keep two characters going,

Olaf Bloodeye, a Nord two-hand/sword and board Stormcloak supporter. Stereotypical Nord.

Dar'resh, Khajiit assasin. Prefers subtlety, would rather use Illusion to make his enemies kill each other, or lure them into their own traps. However, he has been known to slit a few throats.

So, any cool experiences to share, favorite weapons, pretty much anything Skyrim/TES related.

My original character is on SteevoLS computer, so I don't play it anymore. I recently bought Skyrim (like a month ago) and started playing it again.

My first character was a High Elf named Dominum that specialized in magic (especially destruction), archery, and smithing (duh). He was a supporter of the Empire, but not super keen on the Thalmor's policies. Though no fan of Talos, he was not opposed to his worship. He actively supported the Empire against the criminal rebels Stormcloaks, though he did not view them necessarily as bad people, he viewed the killing of the high king as murder and the rebellion as unjustified.

My current character is a Nord named Dominum, he specializes in one handed, two handed, and magic (especially destruction), smithing (duh), and archery to a lesser extent. He is less sneaky and more forthright than the High Elf character. He is a staunch supporter and devote of Talos, and deeply resents the Thalmor and more generally Elven influence. He is conflicted as to the Stormcloak/Imperial controversy. Though he disagrees with some Imperial policies, especially the ban on Talos worship, and views the current Emperor as a weak puppet of the Thalmor, he does not view the Empire and it's legions as inherently a bad influence or presence in Skyrim. While he supports many of the views of the Stormcloaks, and may join them at some point, he has not yet made up his mind as to whether the killing of the previous high king was justified or whether the Nords of Skyrim should be actively seeking a schism with the Empire. He has yet to be convinced as to whether this would be better than simply trying to remove the yoke of the Thalmor from the Empire but remain loyal to it. Though he has had some dealings with the Thalmor on a professional level, he finds them to be haughty jerks and wishes they would go back whence they came. He has no problem killing them whenever it is useful. He does, however, avoid killing stormcloaks and, usually, the legion as he wishes to remain almost neutral until he decides where his loyalties truly lie. Until then, he is content gaining fame and fortune on a number of side quests. Right now he is completing all of the quests in and around Markarth, and is almost done. After that it will be back to finish off a couple of Whiterun quests, then to the college of Winterhold to master to unseen arts.

Mrs. Dominum has a white Nord character named "Magic Mike".

Altmer has never been a race I could play. They feel plain to me, like Bretons. Sure, they are some of the best for magic, but what little I know of their race and lore paints them as the biggest jerks in Tamriel, what with wanting to exterminate men and at the very least desecrate their gods.

I coudn't get into Bosmer either, elves just don't interest me, although I did play a Dunmer for around thirty levels though. Argonians are okay, as are Imperials, but Nord and Khajiit are the ones that stuck with me. I think mostly because I've always hoped for longship raids on the Nord, and I like Khajiit lore, and of course the accent.

Was "WHITE Nord" really necessary Steevo?

1) Not all high-elves want to exterminate men, that's a bit of a racist assumption on your part.
2) Sure it was. I play dark-skinned Nords all the time; as fine, upstanding wizards and scholars.
3) Glory for the Stormcloaks, sword and board, One True King, etc etc.

Technically none of those exist in Skyrim. There's no black, asian, or white. It's imperials, redguards, etc! But you just use simple mods from places like SkyrimNexus. Unless you play on a console...

If you're playing an Elder Scrolls game on console you're pretty much invariably doing it wrong

^This. Dominum the Elf had no hatred for men, or their gods... though men were obviously inherently inferior races.

I don't enjoy jerky camera movements or tiny screens in my RPGs, so I still haven't got around to building a PC. Not to mention that Skyrim is just as moddable on a non-internet XBox as it is on a PC.

What was your argument again?

I'll bite:

- Jerky camera movements: Apparently you have a rollerball mouse filled with lint.
- Tiny screens: 14" CRTs are not the norm anymore.
- XBox Skyrim mods: Editing your save to give you 9000 health isn't quite the same as the wealth of mods on SkyrimNexus. Besides, it's against the EULA so it's almost as wrong as buying a glock.
