Interesting... District 9, War of the Worlds, Independence Day-esque type film... Hopefully it won't be a flop like the last couple of end of the world invasion movies.

When I first saw it I thought it might be a sequel to Skyline... then I finished watching the trailer and realized.. "Hey.. it's just a rip of really disappointing movie..."

On a positive note. With the way we are burning through our natural resources we won't have to worry about aliens wanting Earth for it's resources.

Except that that is an unfounded statement in almost all cases, like the global warming/cooling hysteria of the past century and a half...

well the plot is probablly gonna suck, as will most of the acting, but if theres enough explosions and combat, it might make up for it

District 9 was easily one of the finest scifi films of the year. If they take the basic story of Skyline and add Blonkamp style filmmaking, they might actually have a good movie on their hands.

A few more District 9 style films would be fine by me.
Love the long panning-follow style of "Children of Men" too.

Steevo and Vesper had a date to see the movie on Friday. Maybe they could review it for us.

Oh gosh, it was the bestest evening ever. <3
On a serious note, it was a great movie. It reminded me a lot of a modern remake of Independence Day with a heavy focus on a ground conflict as opposed to a bunch of dogfights, filmed in the style of District 9 (documentary footage, handheld cameras, no sweeping panoramic shots, etc, etc). It's definitely worth seeing, if only for 2 straight hours of realistic loadouts, realistic guns, semi-only shooting, and APCs running over mechanized aliens.
