Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
Everyone should have to show proof of a dead rag when they pay. Also the people who host games should have a stockpile of extra dead rags, because your not going to kick someone off the field for not having one.

Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
The only problem with this is the Noob... You know the guy that's never played other then in the back yard. He doesn't know what I dead rag is before he joins. He comes to the game doesn't have a dead rag, he gets handed one by an Admin or whatever. 45 minutes down the line he drops it as he's trying to keep up withthe pace of the game. You shoot that noob enough when he's dead, he's going to say, "Screw airsoft, those people are asshats!" and will never play again, and his friends my never play and the word spreads taht airsoft is just a buncha jerks who shoot 'protected' dead players. The sport will never grow that way. So i agree with Garrett, weapon in hand, loaded with a mag, ready to pull the trigger if you are going to stealth kill some one.Gunship wrote: wouldn't it be easyer to enforce the fact that if your dead have a dead rag on ? if you don't have a dead rag on IMO you need to be shot anyway. After all this a is a game were we shoot at each other. and if you don't let others know your out of play then it means your in play and free to be shot at ? right or wrong ? Then again its your rules make them how you guys want them. I have no problem and prefer playing by the rules i just wish every one did.

Anybody who gives up the sport because they were SHOT during a SHOOTING game doesn't really need to be playing anyway...If you're playing a shooting game you should be prepared to be shot by anyone, anytime, and at any range...regardless of what the rules say. Sometimes things happen...so get over it!
And so it's not possible to sneak up on someone and snap their neck with your bare hands in real life? Seems to me a "bare hands" kill would be like a neck snapping kill.
And also this was my first game playing with drop-leg gear...its pretty...beast Much more comfy than I thought it would be. Woohoo!

Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
this is just my thought's on the subject. if you are not responsible enough to have a little red rag and keep it on your person then you are not responsible enough to be playing airsoft. because as you all know an airsoft gun can cause a lot of hurting and dead rag make for less pain, as for people walking around mag out of gun or out of bound's. i don't like it. but i have walked gun in hand with mag in strait threw enemy line's i was never questioned nor did i say anything. now that i think was the other team's fault. and not calling hit's i think you are wasting other people's money and time if you wont call a hit. If i ever caught some one on my team not calling a hit they would be kicked faster then they could even start to protest. but with that said some time's in the heat of a fight with heavy gear people just don't feel them or hear them, i think a lot of time's this excuse is over used but if was the honest truth then whatever no one's perfect. but really people need to get some honesty and call hit's, play fair, and bring dead rag and use them. oh and one last thing this sport can never be perfect but it can be beter. thank's for hearing me out ~ Sacarus of Deth Kom

Can someone tell us what happened in the REST of the game please?
I'm like the internet version of that awesome uncle you always thought did drugs but could never prove.
Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
Well, Bravo Zerg-rushed Alpha's position during the day and at the same time--and they're going to get awful tired of hearing this--failed to capture, or even see me (I was literally surrounded by tan uniforms) until I bled out and was started back to respawn, heh.
After that, we managed to push them back to their HQ and capture it. Then we fell back to the ridge and held it for the rest of the day game. At night, though, Bravo not only pushed us back to our HQ, they managed to infiltrate it several times, and even made it into the command tent on two separate occasions (that I know of).
I left around 4:00, after having coffee with Diesel, Severed, and Wolf (and just in time to see them bring Dom in after capturing him), then I departed because I was not prepared to properly deal with the cold.
All-in-all, it was a good, fun, challenging game. We fought well, we played hard, and in the end, everybody had as much fun as they could handle. I'm just sorry I missed Henry's wake-up party...

Ok, first let me start with say Doublewolf, check with Garrett on the final score and I will bet that you are wrong. From talking to Garrett, it was a Bravo win by 1000 points.I am not going to get into any of the negative stuff in this, that I will talk to the proper people. So here is my thought.
Dom, hats off. you held your own very well during the day, you took a bunch of guys that are not on teams and did a very good job. You did a good a job and am glad to compete against you.
Arbee, what can I say, you play the part very well.
To my NC guys that came,GREAT JOB. I learned a lot from watching you and playing with you. I made some wonderful friends Sat. My XO and band of rejects, excellent securing the objectives. Special thanks to Gunship for his brilliant idea to keep me from being captured, It worked out great and allowed me to be near the front of the battle all day and night. To all of Bravo team, I enjoyed playing with you all and look forward to seeing you again soon. It was my privilege to be your CO
Note to all. This was a 24 hr game. I seen people that was not prepared for the weather and playing the whole 24. Remember this if there is another one. The war is not won during the first 5 hrs. Pace yourself. Plan on being awake for the whole 24 and if you get to sleep for an hr, then great. Always wear clothes in layers, and be prepared for anything. This is why the Bravo team was able to harass the alpha base all night. They were prepared for the whole 24. By harassing alpha, we disturbed them so they got no rest and basically took the fight out of alpha.
Dom, you looked so funny Sat morning when we came in you tent and tied you up. That was the best moment of the whole game. Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing, and now you have experienced it first hand. Would have loved to had that on video.
I had a blast and look forward to the next game.
Thanks to everyone that ran and put on the game, and to Nelson for opening up his land for us.
I officially retire from being a CO or XO. Someone else can have the headache.
P.S.--Garrett, you never caught me and I believe you sir owe me a bag of bbs. I only shot KSC .25. I will be at RF on the 13th.

Always a pleasure, Diesel. I don't know if I'll be considering (or considered for) any command positions in the near future, but I'll be back and playing soon enough, and I honestly can't wait.
Despite any griping I may have done, I thoroughly enjoyed Bravo's shenanigans throughout the day and throughout the night, and I've gained a great respect for the players I was fighting against. I know that, without dropping $8,000 on NVGs, I could not play a night game like that, haha.

i had a blast. and enjoyed playing with all of you as usual. i know there was some confusion with the game rules...dont blame the reps they are learning and striving to make this sport more enjoyable for all of us. dom and arbee you guys did a great job. i was really impressed and honestly didnt think you guys would do as well as you did. had fun as always rolling with my boys from ac. got to put some faces to names. me and red left at 3:30 am didnt want to take a chance on falling asleep at the wheel driving back to columbia. i really enjoyed meeting the guys from waxhaw and fortmill finally...you guys rocked. it was a fun day of airsoft thanks to everyone who made this possible.

First of all I would like to thank the admins for putting together an excellent game. At times it did get a little slow but all in all I had a wonderful time.I believe the my highlight was when a group of us low crawled most of the field in front of Alpha's base while trying to avoid patrols in order to attack the Alpha base at 3 in the morning. Alpha ya'll did an excellent job keeping us on our toes during most of the day. I enjoyed meeting and talking to alot of new faces. Also thanks Diesel for being a great CO and your willingness to put yourself out in the field with the rest of us. Also thanks for the coffee. It allowed me stay wide awake for the whole 24 hours plus some except for the 30mins I did get to sleep.

Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
The stealth kill rules are OK like they are. I would not reccomend killing someone without a weapon drawn, but in real life people get killed in hand to hand combat, so it isn't like it's not realistic. The rules say stealth kills are non-negotiable, so its not like you touch somebody and stealth kill them, but they can shoot you in the face and not accept it, they have to accept it. For a safety kill you should have to have a weapon draw and pointed at the person you are killing. Some Bravo guy tried to tell Dom he had been killed when at the time he was safety killing people, he was on one side of the tent and Dom was on the other. He also tried to make us remove our mags. We werent captured, we were just dead. There was no reason to have us disarm our weapons.
Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
The rules need to be clearly explained at the beginning of the game with all player present, some people aren't getting the message.

Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
I want to start by saying hey to Diesel, Garrett, Vesper and other really good guys i met at the op whos names i cant remember.
My AAR. I got to Bravo HQ with a mission only to have to regroup because one of our NC teams was a no show and made us short by 10 players. (it happens so be prepared). I split Valhalla into two fire teams. Our mission was to take Alpha's closest respawn. Fire team 1 was made up of our 4 fastest runners and the 6 guys from 1stNC (glad to meet you guys, good job). FT1 moved in on the west side of the RP while FT2 moved in from the east in an attempt to block the Villagers. FT2 was led by me with 3 other Valhalla members and about half dozen SC players (looking forward to playing with you guys again. To the married couple, special thanks for the medic support).
I was suprised by the uphill battle we had and so focused on Alpha's resistance that i forgot to cover my six. My 2nd medic came from a Villager who was also killing off my FT. Haha that was fun. My closest RP was not where my map showed it which was a nice surprise because it was closer then i thought and had a clear view of the Village.
Just as FT1 was radioing me that they had taken our objective, Diesel called all Bravo to abandon it and rally at the RP next to the Village. I was already there. Op Ball Buster was about to start a day early. This confused me but we attacked the village and took control of it. I like third party teams so when I heard it was disbanded the game changed and became more confusing to me. What became of them?
I soon found myself sitting in the middle of the north field with a dead rag and nowhere to respawn watching Gunship and Toecutter perform a T-shirt raid in an attempt to save our HQ. I watched my son walk through the Alpha forces with his M14 shouldered to get behind them and ambush them. This is an ambush tactic we some times practice. Its used to fool the enemy and unless you are challenged and shot it works. The thing to remember here is if you see someone walking without a dead rag or hands in the air because they may have lost their dead rag , shoot them. Dont assume someone is dead just because they have shouldered their weapon.
The night game was really fun and worth the trip. I found myself in Bravo's closest RP with the full moon lighting it up. We were surrounded by Alpha on both sides in the dark valleys and hosing them down with only the integrity of the enemy on our side. We held it for a couple hours but I ended up spawning back at HQ and before i could muster up a squad it was lost so I joined up with Waxhaw Airsoft and we moved on the village. Just as got into position with 6 people the villagers left in the direction of Alpha so we let them go and ended radio silence to get a mission from Diesel. There is a satelite part in front of Alpha HQ.
We decided to let Alpha wait it out thinking they would be expecting us at any moment. When we finally moved on Alpha and that objective it was really late into the night. I and two members of Valhalla were tasked with taking ocassional pop shots at Alpha's tent from the NW tree line to get their attention while two other squads moved in behind them from the other side. Just before my battery died My squad rushed the base killing a few and getting ourselves killed. I went to my car to get a nap and monitored the radio about an hour later a heard on the radio that the Alpha CO was in our custody. Gunship did a great job directing the squad movments from the end of the field with NVGs. I fell asleep and by the time I woke up the parking lot was empty but the NC players i came with were still there and half of them went through it without sleep.
All in all I'm glad i can say I was a part of AOSCs (1st 24 hour op?) Lookin forward to OP 25. Haha.
The only con I could see at this op was the absence of non playing refs. with over a hundered players i think it would have gone better with refs posted at the RPs and HQs. 5 refs could have made it run smoother.
