Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
You guys are on the right track for a MIL-SIM. You guys need to make sure every one is on the same page as far as your rules go. There was allot of confution between allot of players that caused problems. Medic rules being one of them. I saw allot of dead players running to medics. Its a hard balance between realism and fun game play.
I'm not judging yall and i think that you guys have an awesome player base to have great games. Waxhaw, Vallhalla and Recondo do what is called hard core RIL-MILS. The rules are allot tougher, example the last 2 day op we had if you went to the parking lot your done for the rest of the op. you get caught not calling your hits your kicked out of the op. and not invited back. (ever) you get shot u pull a casualty card telling you how your wounded and how the medic has to treat you. (no 30 second count and your all better) then you have to be moved via somebody has to drag you or Carrie you. capture rules are tougher to asking somebody to take there mag out of there gun is not something any one should get an attitude over. Your playing a role in a game. The ops i go to if your captured your zip tied and somebody is gonna go thro all your gear, and pockets. ( you get it back, and nobody is gonna break your stuff or steal it)
I really had fun playing the night game. we went out about 12 am with one goal. Keep Alpha up all night. I was using the NVG's directing hit and runs on Alpha HQ till 4 am. 2 man teams hitting the HQ from every side. till they cracked and just gave us there CO. The one thing i planned on was taking my time and not wearing myself out cause 24 hours is allot of airsoft. (most didn't make it)
Good luck SC and i hope you guys have bigger and better games. (build it they will come to play )

Yeah, like in the vid I posted, when we came back to the village hq to find out it had been taken.. the one girl who was talking, she politely talked to me, very courteous, then, oh yeah, guess what, safety kill.. im thinking noooooo! I knew to shoot her.. im with garrett, shoot first..
far as hits go, i dont care if i get hit after dead, most of the time i loose my rag so im used to a few more hits then i need to take, but if i yell a loud hit, and raise my hand, folks get the point and let me be dead..
ive never yelled at someone for hitting me, granted i havent taken 30 rounds to the face after the fact yet also..
just wanted to say that about the girl though, she tricked us into a safety using here womanly charm, boy im a sucker..

That was Duma and Ping, both experienced in many Real-Mil's... Beware, they are the definition of Vets.

Which is the one talking holding the gun? man late night we ran into her and a small squad trying to retrieve an objective. She was just laying in the open field by the woodline. "Crawling" to the objective. and the objective was far! man I was impressed..

that would have been Ping.

Sneaky, sweet, and brutal. Next time we wont be nice to you Ping. LOL
Re: Operation 24 - Feb 27-28, 2010
I would love to come back to this field and play again. The open fields and thin cover make for a challenge. Next time I would like to see a more objective based game though. I realize that when 100+ shooters turn out for a match it is hard to keep a paintsoft game from breaking out. I would also like to see a plan to keep it from turning into a North vs South event (even though 3/5 of my FT was SC, previous posts bill it that way). The map i had studied and brought wasnt even close. I like the 3rd party influence in a mil-sim but since their loyalty cannot be trusted and their role is changing throughout the game, certain tactics like evasive sneak maneuvers must be used. Like T-Shirt raids and shouldered weapons. I would never use an excuse like "looking for a mag" because that is lying if you use it to get the jump. The key is to "Be Honest" when challenged. Challenge or shoot everyone without a dead rag or hands in the air that you perceive as a threat. If there is one thing i learned from "invitational" Real-mils, its to call your hit even if its not direct. "When in doubt, call yourself out." The best part about NC real-mill is that you will not find a player that doesnt call a hit. The penalty is stiff and it is a privilege to be called back to the next one. This is the main difference between Real-mil/Mil-sim in NC compared to big games like Fulda and Eagle. I hope the AOSC will host smaller games of this type at the Airfarm, since its the closest SC field to teams like Waxhaw, Recondo and Valhalla. I would also like to invite members of the AOSC to come to the Valhalla/Waxhaw training fields in Lancaster, SC and Waxhaw, NC for some free events that might help us to to develop common guidelines for joint Real-mil/Mil-sim events.

Meh. Honestly, one of the reasons I enjoy playing in SC is that the players are courteous and willing to give unarmed persons the benefit of the doubt. For most of us, it's just a game, and it doesn't really matter who wins or who loses--we're here to have fun and shoot at people. Sure, there are a couple of people here and there who are under the impression that AirSoft and real life are synonymous, and are thus willing to do anything and everything for a win (you have those types of people everywhere you go, no matter what you're doing)... but for the most part, we don't.
Underhanded tactics can make a game go sour in a heartbeat... In my personal experience, if you open up on unarmed people, they get mad at you and say "What the fxxx, I'm (pick one: looking for my _____/going to take a piss/going back to the staging area/am not currently in the game), so chill out, asshole!" If you don't open up on unarmed people, they try to safety/stealth/meelee kill you.
You can either be an asshole who shoots noncombatants or a dumbass who lets people get behind him. I for one would rather be neither--I feel it's a lose-lose situation and I see no problem in trying to avoid it altogether, even if it means declaring it an "illegal" gambit during play.

Abree, there is no win or lose in a RIL-MIL. only did you complete your objective ( pass or fail if you will ) we dint even use points. Its you completed your task or you didn't. The only thing you can do is learn what you did Wrong and try not to make the same mistake twice. Eather way its always a win cause you learn and have fun at the same time without all the BS.

Haha, you can lead a horse to water, Gunny, but you can't make him drink. I know what you're saying, and I'm down with it, but it can be hard to get that "victory at any cost" mentality out of some peoples' heads... especially if the games are less objective-oriented (as they tend to be down here).

I have to sling something out there for you guys. The game was to have 29 different objectives throughout the game. The early shutdown of the Villagers kind of put a kink in the plans that we had to get the objectives out though. And even when we brought em back in later, a lot of the remaining objectives were being set in place until the cease fire was called. I got the call from a CO around 1 or 2 that they wanted to stop objectives for the night. In hind sight, I can see that the objectives still should have been set and radioed in no matter who did or didn't want to go after them. But hey, this was our first at The Farm, def not the last. We are thinking about bringing just a night game into play sooner or later, and in my opinion this field is best at night. SO shoot me some ideas if you got em.

No, he just didn't want to send his XO out to be captured. Yes we wanted a rest, but it wasn't that we wanted objectives to stop all together.GARRETT wrote: I have to sling something out there for you guys. I'm not usually one to rile people up or speak my mind ( ) but wouldn't you think that the team that handed over their CO and went to sleep was essentially surrendering? That pretty much ended the game, with Tan still on the field victorious, irregardless of how many times their CO was captured...?GARRETT wrote: I have to sling something out there for you guys. I mean, I wasn't there so I don't know. Just constructive food for thought for next time.

I can honestly say I fought to the death before they captured the CO. Hell they captured me with him cause I offered.
