Outside The Box Airsoft!

Post by splatmaster » Wed Apr 14, 2010 7:27 pm

Well gents, figured it was time...

www.otbairsoft.webs.com

-Outside The Box Airsoft is the brainchild of Garrett Hausman, a longtime Paintballer, Airsofter and fantasy gamer. After many years of action sports like Paintball and Airsoft, Garrett realized there was a niche that desperately needed filling. While regular, run of the mill airsoft events were fun, there was always an underlying interest in games tailored to smaller numbers and plotlines that did not revolve around capture the flag, take that base, steal the nuke, or kill the terrorist. So with a few smaller games that were held to great success, thus giving Garrett enough reason to form OTBA.

-OTB Airsoft's main goal is to present new, exciting gametypes and provide unparalled support and complexity. We do not aim for the biggest games, or cater to common scenarios. Our goal is to bring games that are intuitive and original that will bring in only players who have a vested interest in being there and playing that style.

A few gametypes are:

-LARP, Live Action Role Playing. Total immersion into a SiFy type scenario.

-Fallout, Post Apoc survival with limited resources and many enemies

-Zombie Scenario's, the dead coming back to life and you have to kill them.

A few things you can always count on in an OTBA event:

-Full time Ref's, admins, and Non-Playing Characters, all with the goal of keeping the game moving and providing and immersive and worthwhile experience.

-An original, not easily replicated gametype that you will not find anywhere else.

-Extensive planning and use of props

-A staff open to suggestions and critique, anything to make the game run smoother and be more enjoyable

After every event we want to hear from you. We want to know what was good, and what could be improved. Our entire goal is to give you everything you expected and wanted, and then some. We want you to leave and think "wow, that was great!" Anything less than that is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

So, come to one of our events! We promise, we have something for everyone.

Best of luck with your project, Splat!

On the subject of LARP: A good stepping stone to full-time LARP games would be normal games with much more involved scenarios. Perhaps a CQB game with dedicated characters like a hostage situation that had to be defused by individual squads. Maybe a timed bomb defusal in a warehouse held by terrorists, or a VIP assassination in an old factory. Less far-fetched scenarios would be sure to attract a larger crowd, at which point you could move your newfound fanbase on to more specialized scenarios.

Just my .02. ;)

Don't worry, I have a plan for a zombie game that will knock your socks off.  And yes, I plan on running a few run-of-the-mill type scenario's like those, but the thing that I plan on seperating from the average game is the intricacy of props and the in depth role-playing of the NPC's. I think that is what will keep bringing people back.

A "normal" zombie game doesn't appeal to me, but a Left 4 Dead game would be a lot of fun... if you could get enough dedicated undead to show. :D

Thats EXACTLY what I am planning.  ;)

Think limited ammo, specific missions, teams of 5, full time bad guys, awesome field, darkness...

that would be really cool if you could do a mega man plot like with will smith and its one guy versus all of these zombies that can run.  you could switch off who gets to play the guy like will smith or add other people!
