OP: DOMINO AAR

Post by Robin » Sun Jun 13, 2010 10:00 am

Alright,

The morning started off with 107 players! The Vietnamese, led by Tanker rocked out the early morning with the US unable to cross the Mekong River.

Explosions all around marked the advance of the US in to foreign territory. Squad after squad, led by Dom, wove destruction through the four key towns of Vietnam. But the natives made the foreigners pay with each bloody step. Well done both sides!

The Deuce and a Half rolled in and gave both factions much needed transport and was a mad-fun element to the authenticity of the war and was just damn cool to roll in. Expect to see it again at OP: ROMEO in Sept!!

Lunch arrived at 3pm and not a moment too soon. Phew... this was a day for serious hydration and careful exercise. The temperature swung into the 90s and stayed there. The score at mid-day was

US Armed Forces 250 pts
VC Command = 235 pts

A narrow lead gave everyone a strong fighting chance!

4pm marked the massive Tet offensive, yet the weather had taken it's toll. Only 50 players remained at the field. Others had given it their all, but found themselves with touched of exhaustion and potential heat stroke. Ouch. mid 90s .. aint no joke!

Brutal engagements and a hell-of-an assault at the last minute gave the VC two forts. while the US held three.

The final event of the OP was the terrific 'Fall of Saigon'. Concussions rocked the world of every soldier as smoke eerily drifted across the fields of carnage! The US began in Saigon (Silverado) while the armed VC could start and respawn *anywhere* around that terrible capital. 1960s music inspired courageous fighting and the end finally came...

The scores of OP: Domino

US Forces = 700pts
VC Command = 485pts

I salute you all, who showed up to make this a fine day of airsoft and next year I will Not order the jungle weather! lol

More to come,
~R

had a great day....the smart players knew how to pace themselves. Great rolling with IronFox. Also the team of me and Recon(doms dad) were showing the younger players how it was done at the end. Thanx for the "helo drop" robin....u missed the firefight it took to get that base!!!
not a "cheap" day of airsoft, but worth it. It was good to get an alpha victory without the main infantry of AIRCROSS...normally you guys are the whole alpha body! You guys were missed tho...

Yea, only 3 members from aircross managed to show up (including me). And IronChef, you were amazing on the field, and you were a great squad leader. Unfortunatly, I had to leave at 2:30 because I was dizzy and felt like I was going to have a heat stroke, even after I took off all my armor.

This game was just so awesome!  Had to be one of the best I have ever been to.  I had fun holding and being over run at Dakto with Ironchef and Recon, got a double kill with the M79.

Robin you did an amazing job with this game, and thanks to all the refs.

I agree with Trig, this has to be the best I've played at. I got a pretty authentic Nam' experience out of this game. Especially when our group of about 9 was tasked with taking and holding Bang Son. After several brutal shootouts and encounters with VC snipers, only IronFox was still alive in that muddy little trench system. (Which was pretty slammin since all three of us were in Nam' gear.) I don't even think our CO even expected us to survive as long as we did!

All in all it was a great game, even though it was a scorcher. The simplicity of Nam' equipment made it decently easy for me to handle the heat. ;)

I'm planning on putting a vid together with the small amount of footage I managed to get.

Just found about 6 mins of footage from the last game which I will put together tonight. Had a blast all day, pistol match with Jason was hysterical and the over all best part of the day was when I saftey killed 3 people in a base after they asked "Are you dead?" then my reply, "No" when I pulled out a handgun.  ;D
Truck made it a lot better getting around, over all great day! Thanks Robin for setting up such an amazing day, to all the guys who dressed up, to the two generals on both teams for putting up such a great fight, to Jason for being such a good target, and to Ken for helping me clear out Mile High and rescue our General.

Agreed.

It was certainly a hot one out there today and while I enjoyed the time I was on the field unfortunately it wasn't as much as I wanted to be, but I didn't feel like getting heat stroke either.  It was a great game though. Well done Robin.
You name a game, I've been to it.

If I've banned you, then you have more than likely deserved it.

If I deleted a post it didn't need to be there or I simply didn't like it.

Lol that was pretty crazy, I was sitting inside the fort when that happened on the right of the opening.... I was like "what??"  that little incident made me way paranoid.  The next time, when you and a teammate safety killed an alpha guy in Saigon and I waylaid you guys I was really suspicious when you said you two were the only ones. I had my eyes peeled. Likewise when you walked by with you gun up I immediately covered you with my gun, prepared to blaze away if you even twitched!  Anyway congrats on the good use of "asymmetric" tactics! 8)

Actually you asked if we found a scope, pulled out your pistol and after you had safety killed me they asked you if you were dead and you replied "no" and safety killed the other two.  You did get me with that shifty VC trick though.

He asked me if I was dead first because I was never going to pull my pistol until someone questined me.

Thanks, I had a blast as well. I look forward to hooking up with you guys again soon, hopefully I will have some sleep the night before and it isn't so HOT. Next time I should have the M203 also.
