First upgrades

First off if this is in the wrong section please move.

The situation is this. I have a TM M16A2 and I want to upgrade it but am not sure where to begin. I would like to improve its range and accuracy. ROF does not matter much and I am happy with it currently.
Also I am looking to put about $150 give or take into this gun in upgrades and rails.

Given that TM hopups are among the best in the industry, I would start with a tightbore barrel. When you say you are happy with ROF, are you also happy with the FPS? If it is a stock TM, then the FPS will be low (around 280). Simply upgrading to a M110 or M120 would probably noticeably increase you range.

If your using .2g bbs, try moving up to .25g bbs. I'd also suggest the KWA 2GX bucking to help with accuracy. For barrels, I love my Prometheus and it's given me great results. But that could easily take up half your budge.

What inner diameter should I look for in a tightbore barrel? I have .25g bbs on there way. I have used them in the past and like the accuracy but the range was not there.

To be honest, I don't think you need to go any smaller than a 6.03 barrel. I think the 6.01 takes too much work to keep clean and avoid jams without that much of a benefit of accuracy.

There is not really much point in putting in a KWA bucking, the stock TM hop-up is very good. TM buckings are among the best.

This is true,  I wouldn't waste time with a $14 KWA bucking.  An SCS or similar concave style nub will help you out some and they are only a couple of dollars.

I'd put in a Guarder spring over a Systema one, as those have been known to crack(not a big issue though) and a metal spring guide would be a good idea as well.

I'd recommend putting in one of SteevoLS' MOSFETs.  They are reasonably priced and will give you crisper trigger response and prevent any further wear to your trigger contacts.  You can always put the leftover money into an ACM metal receiver if you want to change the externals, or you could throw on a rail system.

TM gearboxes, especially the newer batches, don't usually have any trouble standing up to a 120. I'd definitely swap the shell if I went very far over that, but I've seen people run M140s in stock shells and get away with it.

You could get some sorbo padding or TPM or some sort of Shock absorption padding to protect the mechbox. But I really think you'll be fine with the M120. I'm just suggesting the sorbo because it's cheaper than a new shell.

TM Cylinder heads come stock with sorbothane.
