Just because they wear the 1st ID doesn't mean they are they might just fall under them and if your in a FOB and it's attacked all you have to have is a IBA on you could be in your boxers if your fobs under attack you throw your IBA on and shoot. Ass for the gear...they wasted a lot of money to look cool.

I would guess its so that if youve got it propped on the wall, you can grab it on the run easier.

doubt it.  my buddy was telling me that back when the 30 rnd mags were illegal to civillians, they would "lose" a few whenever they did field training.  Always seemed to turn up at the local pawn shops 8)
