OP: Rendevous/OP: Paranoia

Post by 82dcustomer » Mon Nov 22, 2010 9:17 am

I would first off like to thank everyone who came out and supported this event even this late in the year. I know it will be the last one for many of you this year and hope to see you again as soon as possible.

This was a new AO and I wanted to try something new for it.

Vice Prime Minister Olah of the Piedmont Democratic Republic decided he was going to try and secure a contract from a Secure Trust Operations for some unknown reason.

After many professional emails back and forth, Olah was invited to the compound to watch demonstrations of the contractor's abilities. Olah left his house with two government vehicles under the guise of going on vacation. Prime Minister Remoh being the un trusting guy he is decided to send a two man surveillance team with HVT elimination package if necessary. They were able to transmit the location of the Vice Prime Minister as being on property registered to Secure Trust Operations, but they have not been heard from in almost 24 hours.

The Triad Liberation Force intercepted the directive from the Prime Minister to tail the Vice Prime Minister and decided to attach their own surveillance team. This team was able to pick up the trail near the Vice Prime Minister's home and successfully tail him all the way to the mountains to the STO compound. They were able to transmit the location of the compound, pictures of the vehicles, and give license plate numbers confirming the use of government vehicles for personal use. Unfortunately this surveillance team missed a few communication time checks, and have not been heard from since.

Since the hospital has to investigate all suspicious wounds, they have alerted the authorities over a possible attempted homicide case where a patient was brought in with several gunshot wounds. When the victim was brought back to consciousness all he would say is that it was a training accident.

Gambler's family is also grieving the loss of their only son, father, and husband as he was apparently killed in a related training accident.

Will the Vice Prime Minister consider hiring the STO?

If he does hire them what will he use them for?

What will the Prime Minister say about the Vice Prime Minister going on vacation to a private contracting firm?

Will Gambler's family be happy with the insurance money or want more answers?

Will Bear Jew eventually crack under the pressure and say what really happened?

What happened to the two surveillance teams?

RE: AAR of Demonstration for VPM Olah

We were tasked with corresponding with Vice Prime Minister Olah (Halo) about providing a show of force to help him decide about using our services. Then we were to plan out how to demonstrate Force Protection,  AO Security, Access Control, Shooting Demo, HVT Elimination, Booby Traps,  Reconnaissance, Fortification, Minor Infantry Tactics, Patrolling, Ambushes, Military Camouflage, and Anti-Vehicle Measures.

Prior to the event Waxhaw & Valhalla held 3 practices (Big Mike from 6mm was able to make it down for the last one) in preparation. Intel was being gathered and everyone was on high alert because... well...we were paranoid about someone finding out exactly what was planned and it being used against us to coordinate an attack on our visiting diplomat. The more information they had, the easier it would be for someone else to do that so I gave everyone the instructions to speak to no one, including 82d about what was going on and to let me control the information flow so that we would know what the game admin knew and could possibly pass on. We had intel before the game began that TAG was going to be Gvt spies and that there might be rebel spies as well, so the paranoia really began to build.

We were demonstrating our AO Security and Access Control by providing the security for the event. As Olah and his team entered the compound, the first gate control was to verify that the vehicles entering matched the description (make, color, license) of what we were provided and that they had the correct password. Gate 2 confirmed the password and received a headcount from gate 1 for each vehicle and the cars were allowed to pass to gate 2.  At gate 2, one vehicle at a time was processed. Everyone was asked to exit the car while it was checked for any explosives on the outside first and then the inside. All surveillance equipment was looked for and confiscated for the duration of their visit as well.

We were also beginning our demonstartion of covert surveillance during this time as Matthews was up on the hill taking photos of the team and their cars. Through out the day, Matthews took photos of multiple things going on around the compound without being caught. Originally, we had planned to show the photos he took at the end... but... well we'll go into that in a bit.

After safely getting Olah to the staging area we began trying to get ready for our first event. This is the point where things began to get chaotic. Our instructions were to go no further than ½ way up the hill toward the road and for an assortment of reasons, that was not followed and the bumped into the admin car driving some player in to insert into the back of the field.  We ran through the infantry tactics and patrolling and while swapping up security and prepping for the shooting demo we learned that our  venture up the hill meant that the sniper teams were turned loose to shoot at any time they wanted instead of at the end of the day. During the shooting demo, it was thought that a sniper team had been spotted and we opted to ask Olah to take a lunch break (this was when we had planned lunch anyway) and to move to the safer location of his car. His security team moved him out to an area they felt was more secure than right near the stage while we made a hard push to ensure that the area was clear. It also gave us the time to swap up our teams and get our next demo team in from the security ring.

We served Halo cheesecake during this change up time and this was also part of a demonstration. Our assign, Minigun had injected food coloring into the cheesecake. While it was non-lethal, we anticipated being able to show our ability to assasignate an HVT while he was being guarded. Though the food coloring leaked out and Halo avoided the concentrated fake poison, it is believed that had it been real poison, he would have died from the poison that would have spread into the cheesecake. His personal security officer did offer to test it form him first, but Olah likes his cheesecake and would not allow him to try it.

Once we had the security firm again and the demo was ready, we invited Olah to return and we moved on to Bombs and Booby traps. The 6mm guys (Diesel, Big Mike, Steevols & Gambler) proceeded to show us water, powder and BB explosives and what they would be used for. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=171513119539461&set=a.171513099539463.39829.100000423213515&ref=nf#!/video/video.php?v=470323437828

Next up was our Ambush demonstration. We invited Olah's security team to provide a 3 man opfor so that they could get involved in the activities, but they were jumpy about security and declined to participate. So we provided our own opfor and the plan was for the Olah and his team to follow about 20+ ft behind the opfor to observe. A last moment change in our ambush team lead to some confusion and one of the ambush team began firing at the observation group. They and Gunship returned fire and that misguided contractor was injured and need to be evaced. Fortunately, he was shooting simunition rounds at the time and his rounds hitting the observation group did no damage. While we were prepping to re-try that demo, Gambler was shot and killed sending us to high alert and necessitating the removal of Olah from the area again.  Things really weren't going well...

Gambler had managed to wound Otter but Doak made Gamber KIA. We captured Otter and pushed Doak out of the area (though at the time we weren't sure who he was). Olah sent his personal security guard in to help interrogate our prisoner. On his phone we found text messages between  him and Fenix. Among some of his texts was questions about trying to assasignate VPM Olah. His video camera had some shots of our security, but none of Olah and his group. After it was determined that he had no more intel, it was the decision of Kivuli, Olah's security man, that he would “take care of the problemâ€

As always, I had a fun time playing at this real mil. Even though this field was not new to me, the area we played was. First off, I want to thank Mike for running this one. Secondly, this could not have happened without Ping or Halo. Those two did a lot of planning.  A real mil takes time to plan, and they did an excellent job.
For the most part, I was on security detail. Which at a real mil, is not too bad. I, along with Steevo, Big Mike, and Gambler, got to put on a demo of different mines and claymores. I really had fun with that.
Even though I did not fire a single round at anyone, I had a blast. I really enjoy the real mils.

I started off teh day with Steevo guarding the front gate and verifying that the vehicles the VIP was in were the vehicles he told us he would be in.  After we let them in I followed the vehicles to teh second checkpoint and pulled rear security.  I did some patrolling and pulled security for a bit before I got pulled into a tactical live fire demo where we did different formations both advancing and pulling back.  I was then told to go up and pull overwatch on the camp from around a couple of RV's.  While up there I heard some movement behind me.  I saw a guy in a guillie suit with a pistol draw and I moved around behind the RV and out the other side and shot him in the back(maybe I shouldn't have shot him, but when I see a guy with a gun trying to sneak up behind me, then bolt when he sees that I saw him it makes me think he was up to no good).  I then got shot by the sniper.  I had a good time, but wish I would have taken cover behind the RV again after I shot the spotter.

To all STO Operators.
It is with deep regret that i have to inform you that we have lost a great friend and fellow operator. Gambler's family will be taken care of by STO. His memory and loyal service will not be forgot. We also had one other operator wounded in the line of service for a very ungrateful prospect client. He is doing well and expected back in service in a few days. As for the operator that failed in his tasks, and broke training roe, he has been TERMINATED from STO.

To all operators, You preformed your tasks to the letter and will receive a STO bonus package. Altho we did not secure a contract from a very paranoid VPM, we feel that all operators preformed flawlessly. After securing the compound and collecting all Intel from the intruders, STO has since started talks with other possible clients. The amount of Intel collected from the meeting this weekend will go far in talks with other interested party's and secure our presence and reputation as one of the top security and Intelligence firms in the region. As for the VPM it is my personal opinion that he was to paranoid to realize that he was well protected and safe at all times. To ask for a discount on services for protecting him from HIS threats is an insult to the memory of Gamble and his family. It is my plan to make him pay for our loss and to show him his security was not as good as he had believed it was.

We will now have to move our base of operations to a new secret location due to being compromised by VPM Olah's lack of security on his end. (being followed to our compound) Even thou we eliminated all threats to Olah's life and brought the 2 separate elements to him showing our counter sniper and security assets were in place, Loosing a fellow operator and taking wounded, He still refused to honor his words and return to finish out the demo's. It is a general feeling in STO that Olah has made more enemy's other than the TLF and PM Remoh.

******************

To all that came out great job !!! Special thanks to 82nd and 6mm for putting this on and making it a gut wrenching good time.

*PRO's
I really like the lower half of the field, i know i bitched about it but i did like it.
All the planning that went into this was outstanding.
the amount of time each element put into it, doing there roles.
looking forward to were this story line will lead to.
* CONS
didnt get all the demo's in ( every one practiced really hard on)
was not 2 days of non stop Ril mil.
having to rename Valhalla the Moonshiners

I personally learn so much from these events about my team and what to work on to help make Waxhaw better. These ops. and the work leading up to them are about as fun as it can get in airsoft for me. I look forward to seeing every one next time.

Waxhaw CO, once again :P

As Gambler mentioned above, I started off the day running Checkpoint 1. In a nutshell, that means standing by the rather active main road for ~1.5 hours with an assault rifle and hoping nobody looks twice at you. Several guys did look twice, but didn't bat an eye when I told them I was manning the gate for an airsoft event... I did leave my rifle out of site after a little bit, though.

After Gambler had manned the gate for 5 or 10 minutes, the VPM's convoy rolled up. We were uncertain if we were about to be attacked when the first thing they did was bail out of their vehicles and grab their equipment. Fortunately, they were simply taking time to use binoculars on the compound below... while there was some disinformation when it came to the descriptions of the vehicles, the initial check went smoothly and the convoy was sent down to Checkpoint 2.

From this point on, my day was fairly boring. With the exception of participating in the the ambush and demolitions demos, I didn't do much of anything for 3 or 4 hours. After that rather long and drawn out period of "look at that part of the valley, and then that part of the hill", I was tasked with flushing out the final sniper team along with Big Mike and Diesel (at this point Gambler was already KIA). While Big Mike and Diesel climbed to the absolute top of the highest ridge anybody could see (seriously), I worked my way parallel to them on the road below. We heard movement in the woods multiple times, but we never really found anything. This whole process took an hour or so, after which I returned to the HQ. Shortly before the game was called, Ping rounded up the remaining forces in the HQ and sent us all out to check the perimeter.

I slowly (emphasis on the slow part) made my way back to the campers where Gambler was killed hours before. I checked all the structures and trailers, but found nothing. On a whim, I walked over to the ridge that overlooked the HQ. I figured that if I was a sniper, I'd set up in the heavy vegetation on the ridge line and hope for a shot on the VPM. I didn't see anything, as I was turning to leave I glanced down at my feet. 2 or 3 feet from my gun barrel, a section of the ground decided to stand up and look at me.

As Doak and I looked at eachother, all I could think to say was a tentative hello. He immediately expressed relief that 82d had sent him some backup. At this point I wasn't sure if he was bluffing, or if he thought I was an ally. I was after all wearing woodland, same as he was. I kept my gun casually pointed in his direction while I commented on his good position. Just as he was telling me about when his spotter had been shot, I informed him that he could either accept a safety kill or capture. He opted for capture, at which point I escorted him down in to the HQ.

Once we were in camp, Gunship began interrogating Doak. He was very adamant that he was but a single, childless, orphaned deer hunter. After Gunship threatened to execute him if he didn't talk, Doak jumped out of his chair, grabbed Gunny's pistol from his holster and appeared to shoot Gunny in the rear. I shot Doak twice in the back as soon as he started this stunt, but wasn't able to prevent him from shooting Gunship. I'm not sure if he hit Gunship in the plates or if he had a "wounded" medic card, but Gunship survived the encounter. I can't say the same for our deer-hunting friend.

-------

I'd like to thank Gambler and Diesel for vouching for my presence, and Ping and 82d for pulling off a great game.

It was more accidental than deliberate, but I'll take all the credit I can get. :P

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to accuse Gunny of cheating here.

Steevo, you never admit that you did something like that on accident.  You talk about how you use your ultra stealthy ninja skills to sneak up on a sniper and capture him.  ;)

As a STO operator, I will truly miss my friend Gambler. I only wish I could have gotten up that hill faster to help him. With that being said, I have a strong desire to find VPM Olah and show him my demolition skills up close and personal. To not take advantage of the resources you Had at hand, is a mistake on your part.
VPM Olah, we will meet again. I promise the mines will be lethal this time.

The Real Mils' aren't for everyone.  They can definitely be tedious, and you won't shoot much.  I think in 3 real mil's I've gone through less than 3 mags, but they have been some of my favorite games over the last year or so.  Heck my favorite part of Op Viper was making it through without firing a shot.

I could see how not everyone would like them. They sound pretty fun though. I could see a few day or week long full immersion real mil on a huge piece of land being pretty amazing.
