KWA charging valve for GBB mags
Hello all,
I have a KWA KP45 NS2 with three NS2 magazines. Only one out of the three I have actually works like it's supposed to work. One of the defective ones spits out gas everywhere when I fill it but still holds a charge. The other defective one fills correctly but slowly leaks out gas and then quickly leaks out gas from the charging valve.
I have tired removing the charging valve from both and sealing both with a generous bath of silicone oil and tightening them hard, but this hasn't helped either.
I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy these...

I figure I could just go ahead and replace them. They have been out of stock for months...
Thank you!

You could always try replacing them with a slightly fatter O-ring or putting a thin bead of RTV on the threads before you tighten them.

I picked up a 10 pack of #60 O-rings at Lowe's before I posted this, and they were a little big. What size do you think I should try? I couldn't find anything smaller at Lowe's.
Edit: by the way, I'm only using Green gas.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that the KWA fill valve O-rings are 4.75mm OD, 3.75mm IDx0.8mm thick. I'd check McMaster-Carr or some supplier like that.

I just found this...

So I may just try it instead of trying to fix this crap.

Whenever I have had that problem, teflon on the threads and tightening them up solved it. A better oring sure can't hurt though. None are leaking from the top, are they?

Re: KWA charging valve for GBB mags
Yes, Henry. I only have problems with these fill valves.
Thanks for the info, guys! I may try the teflon before I spend $10 per valve. I am wondering if the problem is with the valve itself instead of the seal between the magazine and the valve. I wish KWA would have these dumb things in stock since they're so cheap.
What size O-ring would you suggest? I looked on some hardware websites and couldn't find quite what specs you gave me, Stephen. I think the Ace in Clemson may have some different ones than Lowe's.

Why not take one of the old O-rings with you?

Re: KWA charging valve for GBB mags
Hey Scott, just got your PM and figured I'd answer you here.
As for your two leaky magazines, I have some solutions to the problems you have explained.
The first mag that shoots gas out the (bottom?) every time you charge it with gas will most likely need a new fill valve. DO NOT SPEND $10 on these though!! You can mess around with new O-rings, but if the inner part of the valve is bent, it will still leak. The same is true for the release valve, which can get bent easily if you mess around with them too much....uh...yeah...
As for your second mag, I have a little story for you...
I was faced with the same problem after buying some "broken" NS2 USP mags for my USP. The guy I got them from said he bought them new from ASGI and they all started to leak. He took them back for ASGI to repair, but said they were unable to.
Well after I bought the magazines from him I ordered new KWA/KSC G series fill valves from Airsoft Atlanta for $3.49 each. When it comes to fill valves for KWA/KSC NS2/S7 magazines the fill valves are compatible between models, even though they each have different part numbers. Oh and Scott, don't send any money to The People's Republic of California as they are still in stock at Airsoft Atlanta: http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/Charging_Valve_KWA_KSC_G_Series_p/99009.htm)
After receiving and installing the fill valves on a working magazine, verifying their compatibility, I installed them on the leaky mags. This is where my luck ran out. The magazines were still leaking.
Now for the solution....[LONG STORY SHORT]:
Use this diagram for reference:

Step 1: Disassemble the magazine to access part #'s 947 and 950.
Step 2: Remove part #947, silicone spray lube the piss out of it, then properly seat it back on part #950
Step 3: Reassemble magazine.
Part #947 is the gas chamber seal and if this is dry or not properly seated on #950 gas will leak from the bottom of your magazine. With your second mag, there is a very good chance your fill valve is fine (as were the ones that came with my "broken" mags) and new valves or O-rings will not solve the issue. I suggest lubing part #947 and reseating before making any purchases, as dong so is free.
Hope this helps. If it does not or you have any questions, let me know. I have experimented with some other options, however some are permanent mods to the magazine.
Oh and a question for you: Both magazines leak from the base(fill valve area), yes?

Re: KWA charging valve for GBB mags
The only thing Nick forgot to mention is that Not ALL NS2/S7 models are compatible with each others valves, especially the release valve. the M9 PTP release valve will work with the majority of the NS2 systems aside from the 226 and I believe KWA said the CZ75 but I'm not sure on that second one. BUt the charging valve should be the same across the board I do believe.
Now the Glock valves are the predecessor of the NS2 valves, so while they will work they aren't as gas efficient (in theory anyway)

Re: KWA charging valve for GBB mags
Wow! Thanks for the great info, guys!
The only problems I have seems to be centered on or around the charging valve. The release valve seems fine and works well.
Is removing part #947 done by pounding out those two pins? Does it take much force? After the pins are out, is it easy to remove #950 and #947?
Also, should I keep a squirt of Green Gas in the mags when I store them to prevent #947 from drying out?
I THINK the valve may be bent or defective on the one that sprays out gas when being filled. I tried propane adapter first with it, and it was pretty disappointing. I'm just going to buy Green Gas for these until I get better with gas guns.

After intense research and testing done in my laboratory;
Release valves do vary, however the Glock fill valve is interchangeable between my KSC/KWA USP, USPc, P226, Glocks (duh), and non NS2/S7 Mk23 with no issues.
As for gas efficiency, there is no difference in the efficiency between Glock mags and NS2 USP mags. Non NS2 mags and NS2 mags have the same fill valve based on looking at my MK23's (pre S7) and USP's (S7).
KSC/KWA S7/NS2) P226 and USP and Glock release valves are interchangeable. They also work in the old Mk23 and vice-a-versa.

Re: KWA charging valve for GBB mags
Yes. You have to first remove the fill valve, then the magazine baseplate. Removing the pins is easily done with a small punch (or screwdriver) and a lightweight hammer (sometimes you can just push them out). After that part #950/947 should slide out (might need pliers).Esteban wrote: Is removing part #947 done by pounding out those two pins? Does it take much force? As for storing the magazines, I've read where you want to leave some gas in the magazine. I typically shoot my GBB's until they are out of gas, then empty the rest by depressing the release valve with my thumb. I then spray silicone oil in part #903 while pushing the release valve open and again leaving the valve closed. This lubricates the release valve O-rings as well as part #947. I then spray the release valve on the back of the magazine as well as the fill valve. In almost three years of using this method, I have never had leaky magazines. Keep in mind the whole time, I've been using propane (with silicone oil drops).
IMO as long as you keep everything well oiled, propane does not present any issues with drying O-rings and causing leaky magazines. I usually put 4 drops of silicone oil in the propane and I can fill around 5-8 magazines before reapplying the silicone drops to the propane.

Re: KWA charging valve for GBB mags
Success! Part #947 has been lubed for the mag that leaked like crazy. This fix worked great! However, it was a pain to pound the pins back in.
Do you do this often for your mags or only when they start leaking? I will leave a second or two squirt of gas in the mags every time I store them.
