SJ, just bring your gear man. You will be put on a matching faction and more than likely someone who will help you through your first few hours of the game.

Any chance we could get an overhead terrain/boundaries map for this one? SOCOM has never been to TT and I'm sure there are others, but we'd like to get some idea of how the field layout is.

According to my brother the field is mostly woods, he said the woods don't really provide much cover. Its less dense. Said its really easy to run through without getting stopped by tress/bushes.Jeremy314 wrote: Any chance we could get an overhead terrain/boundaries map for this one? There is also a small village and small bases.
Old plywood houses basically.
Not really safe.
He also said they have man made cover in the woods.

Has info about the fields.

I'm right here. I'm coming to this game. However, I haven't found a map of this field that is decent enough to make out any landmarks on computer paper.Jeremy314 wrote: Where's Smitty when you need him...?
As others have pointed out in this thread, TT is woodlands, mosly, with sloping hills and thin trees. Some areas of brush provide some visual cover. Since this is the wintertime, brush will not be nearly as effective as the cover at and around each of the building areas.
At this field in the Winter, going alone severely reduces one's effectiveness. Organized squad movements will be the most effective way move offensively. Defensive movements should concentrate around any of the smaller structures. Holding the "village" is nearly impossible without 15+ men and is therefore a waste of manpower unless objectives require it.
Either of the two "bases" (square forts with one or two entrances and slightly elevated locations for troops) can be effectively held with small fire teams and should be avoided if you know your enemy is there (objective requirements notwithstanding).
The two-story "tower" at nearly the center of the map is always a viable target, as it provides a good amount of visibility of most of the major paths from the north and south halves of the field and the second-story gives a range increase while still providing good cover (it's open, rather than the small windows you see at redfox). The main disadvantage of the tower is that it is surrounded by good cover on all side, enough that attacking squads can use it, too.
The last major landmark is the lower fort south of the village. It is easy to hold, but also easy to trap forces in, as it is at the border of the field (so they are backed into a corner) and a creek makes exfil difficult (only two small brides which are exposed or jumping across the creek at a couple exposed choke points).
Why am I talking about the field to both sides since I will certainly be on Bravo? Because I enjoy games where neither side has a severe advantage over the other!
We all started doing what we love somewhere...

For the record, I'm working on a high quality map pack based on South Carolina's geodetic survey and GIS information.

There's no kill switch on awesome!
