Gun is not getting power/barrel wont come out

Post by Crow » Wed Feb 16, 2011 4:30 pm

So a few months ago my G&P Sentry broke. It does not make any sound when you try and fire it, like the power is not getting to it. i tried to see if it was the battery as the problem and its not, i checked to see if the wires became detached from the motor and they are not. i cant find what the problem is, any ideas?

Also i cant get the barrel/hop-up out of my outer barrel. it seems like its stuck in there unlike my other M4 where it just slides out. Again, any ideas?

Try and remove the motor from the grip. Hook up the leads then plug the battery in. After that hit the trigger and see if the motor spins, if it does not spin I would believe that the trigger contacts are bad. It might also help to check and see if there is an inline fuse that might have popped. The only time I have had a barrel that didnt want to come out, it ended up being the spring on the front of the hop up unit somehow got hung up inside the outer barrel. I ended up just pulling very hard and streching out the spring. I ruined the spring but I simply replaced it. Hope this helps.

yup thats what it was, i got the barrel out, no damage lucky, and the motor works so it must be the contacts. i have no clue that that could of been a problem. thanks!

If the motor works outside of the grip, it can't be your trigger contacts. I'd be more inclined to say you have a bit of bare wire somewhere in the pistol grip or just inside the gearbox. If the pinion gear wore the insulation away inside the gearbox, then it would short out if the motor's driveshaft/pinion gear was touching that spot. Removing the motor from the grip would eliminate the short, thus causing it to spin when you pull the trigger.

wouldnt the motor still not spin if it were the contacts? im thinking it may be that the gearbox is locked up but im not sure.

Yes, if the motor does spin it is likely a short/break or a mechanical failure in the GB. If the motor does not spin it is likely the contacts or a short/break.
