Dust plate won't fully close on M4
Alright, so on The M4 I just got from MCG, the dust plate doesn't fully close. I havent taken it apart yet (mostly because Im not sure how to disassemble it without breaking it), but it seems that the problem is that the piece for the latch is hitting against the side of the gearbox. MCG said that dom had just checked this out last month, so I'm wondering if he knows anything about this.

I do, and if you post a pic I can tell you. There are several small things it could be, likely a quick and easy fix. If you can't do pics, I will of course be at the Zombie game or you can drop by sometime.

If you remove the part that is supposed to latch inside the upper, will it shut then? Have you tried tightening that little screw in?

So far i haven't taken anything apart, and I think that the latch is a perm part of the door. And where would this little screw be?

Re: Dust plate won't fully close on M4
Alright, so here's an update. I have the gun apart in front of me right now. The barrel is seperated, and I've looked it over, and the problem definitely is that its hitting the gearbox/motor/whatever. (Although it takes a little force), the door does close and latch while the gun is apart, but as soon as i try to put gun back together the mech pops the cover open. Since the problem seems to be space, would it maybe work if i used a cover with a smaller latch mech or something?

Stephen made a good point to me when we were talking about this last night; just flip the spring on the dust cover and remove the clipping mechanism. You will have to hold it open to adjust hopup, but no biggie.

Re: Dust plate won't fully close on M4
Alright, I'll have to see if I can figure out how to do that.
Edit: Alright, I finally got the door off. I couldn't figure out how to remove the latch tho, so i had my dad use a grinder to grind it down/off. so my problem is resolved. thanks for the help.

You could also get a metal dummy bolt and a magnet to hold it shut. That's how CA used to do it. I can't comment on their newer guns, but that's how they used to do it. This fix wouldn't require reversing the spring, but honestly just holding the thing open while you adjust hop is just as easy.
