Nice! We still need a true practice field. First meetings were this week with 17 the first day and 16 the second. About 20-21 guys really wanting to do this.

Haha and hey, make them happy enough, and your airsoft guns may get sold faster than you think!

our school had a paintball team/club a few years back but we ended up doing nothing, and it will look good on a college application that you like to shoot at people? :) i thought they try to keep that to a minimum

Our club will have a 8 session long training regimen, with each week consisting of 2 sessions. First week will be covering basic IMT's (Infantry Movement Techniques), second week will cover Land Navigation and Radio Communication techniques, third week will delve into Marksmanship and a basic introduction to the mechanical side of Airsoft, and the fourth and culminating week will result in a Simulation of game testing almost all the skills taught. Finishing the initial training, members can choose to further study and specialize in a chosen aspect of Airsoft. In addition, we have our own field now, and we are currently preparing to clear the field of the vegetation, and planning a way to construct a modular town in which we can change to suit our needs.

As for the College application, to start up a state wide coordinated event in which schools compete, and students advance and learn willingly, I'm pretty confident that would look decent on an application.

Sorry to open that can of worms :P

Who will be teaching all of this? Make sure you put major emphasis on basic maintenance and what not. It usually takes about 3-6 months for the average newb to learn the basic FAQs of airsoft in general, if I were you I would focus on teaching that first and foremost, because the sooner you get a grip on that the sooner you can focus on the tactical aspects.

I will be teaching the IMT, Land Navigation, Communication techniques. I will also conduct the honing in of Marksmanship, however I will show brief videos on how the gear boxes work, and what is actually churning inside the replicas. As for the first batch of incoming recruits, they are not strangers for airsoft, and have been playing in small events locally; hence my willingness to dive into the tactical aspect quickly.

Why are you bothering with landnav? You will gain so much more from developing SOP's.
Is the school going to allow you to bring the guns on campus for the mech part?

Down here in our more consistent and local Fort Stewart games, getting lost in the woods is rather large concern, and the ability to relay a position from coordinates rather than "That big burnt tree to the right of the tank road"; so land nav is a rather more important part of the training. No airsoft rifles will be brought to the school, however we will be brining gear boxes to the school and field.
