Painting plastic to look like wood

Post by cripto » Thu Apr 21, 2011 8:49 pm

As the title says is there an easy way to paint platic to look semi-realisticly like wood? It would need to be durable too. Thanks guys.

I am no skilled airsoft gun painter by any means, but in my years of airsofting I have never once seen a wood pattern painted on something.

The M14 wasn't invented until after WWII

Yeah, I'm not sure there's a wood kit. I was thinking of making a wood stock but that would be a TON of work...

i know its a G&G felix. m14 idk which model or whatever though.

psht if you had the time i bet you could find some mock wood wallpaper that you could lay on it... mess around with some spray painting to darken it/make it look older... then coat it in polyurethane... it would be a experimental process for sure though

Yeah thats an idea. You think the wall paper would be durable enough? You think it would stick to the plastic?

Would it be possible to buy a real m14 stock and just add the airsoft GB and such to it? http://cgi.ebay.com/M1A-walnut-stock-su ... 1e62f8c475 compared to my G&G stock its almost identical. Please tell me if this would be illegal in any way.haha....but seriously ???

There are wood kits for the airsoft m14. You just have to look around. I do believe www.ehobbyasia.com has them.

if you used some good glue and coated it a couple times with polyurethane, yeah.

using a real wood stock wouldn't be illegal... but you have to consider GB and battery space

How hard do you think it would be to hollow out the stock and such?
