Re: Painting plastic to look like wood
chippy did you just re-post your post? lol
i didn't see any G&G or CA style body kits on there... not to say that the TM ones wouldn't work. i don't think there was anything in stock though anyway.
uh. I don't know i'm not much of a woodworker.... i'd say some drill bits and a nice chisel or wood file. it would be super time consuming i'm sure..
i also don't know how the internals mount to the body of a m14... at least, not exactly. funny thing is i have a blow up schematic of your gun printed out right in front of me though... lol

Go to google search and type in "painting plastic to look like wood." You will come up with a whole bunch of websites that will help or where this same question has already been asked on other airsoft and hobby forums. Many of have posted links to pages that tell you how to do this.
Re: Painting plastic to look like wood
Thanks guys! I'm torn between getting a legit stock, which would be awesome, and just painting the stock, which would be easier...and cheaper.ugh choices, choices...

This is probably late but Sean from the SCAA painted his old STG .44 (I think thats what it was) and it looked great but it only works if the plastic is a brown fake wood. Not sure if this helps. The best thing to do is look on hobby sites that work in model vehicles and such.

Sean's STG44 was the version with real wood stock.30K wrote:This is probably late but Sean from the SCAA painted his old STG .44 (I think thats what it was) and it looked great but it only works if the plastic is a brown fake wood.

Re: Painting plastic to look like wood
Thanks Steevo! If i do it this way should I paint it just plain brown first then follow his steps?
Re: Painting plastic to look like wood
Probably; if you don't, you'll probably end up with a very dark finish. Bear in mind his process relies on the existing wood grain, so yours may not come out quite the same.

Re: Painting plastic to look like wood
fast fix for that is to paint it brown first....then when the paint starts to dry a little, use a clean household paintbrush to create grain in the paint...once it dries the paint will retain the grain pattern for when you work in the darker colors..ak furniture is made with laminates or cheaper short grained wood....very different in finish and feel from the turned hardwoods used for stocks on the m1 and m14

I can make stocks out of the wood of your choosing, including multi-wood laminate stocks, hollowed out for batteries/tools, and finished with the materials of your choosing.
I can also do fancy carving/etching/inlay/engraving on the stock.
But it will cost you more than buying machine-made wood furniture. Ain't gonna lie there
