Potential massive schedule expansion, your opinion needed.
Re: Potential massive schedule expansion, your opinion neede
It seems like most people have a concern with the money, although this option is not well-considered, I find it would be smart to think about. If you reduced it from the normal $20 to about $10 say, then you might see a larger crowd at every game. As long as the field owners don't care about what you charge as long as they make their percentage, then this could be put into affect. If more people come to the games every weekend, then it will come close to balancing out, but obviously won't be overly close to seeing double the amount of people. Just by making the excess, Saturday-long games a lower price could be beneficial. Then when you get to the OPs you can charge more like back to the regular $20, as more work must be done by the admins and what not. But at a game like Redfox, $10 would allow more people to come out, and with the money they saved they can use it to pay for upcoming games, maybe playing 3 a month rather than 2. Obviously, my logic is flawed in some places, but just reducing the price on games like paintsofting, i.e. Redfox, then you would hopefully see a larger crowd. It would be worth it to give this a try for a month and see the results, then after if it does or doesn't work, go back to the original standards. It's always worth it to try to change to please everyone.
Re: Potential massive schedule expansion, your opinion neede
We play the current fields about six times a year, cutting that to three would really hurt our relationship with the field owners and take the money out of it for them. As far as Sunday games, I wouldn't mind running them, but few fields and very few players that I have talked to want to do them. As far as the numbers being lower at these games, that is likely. I don't know about you, but the games I have the most outright fun at are usually smaller and with people I know. Big is great, but just as much fun (if not more) is had with smaller more accountable groups. Also, we would still have large OPs with similar numbers to what we see now, it would just mean that the smaller games scheduled around the same time frame would likely have lower numbers. After several months of doing this, the player base should grow to accommodate it fairly rapidly. Every time we have seen a schedule expansion it has lead to a solid rise in players in the vicinity to the fields. I think this would mean that the games would become about the same as far as turnout as they are now after only a few months, and this cumulative rise would mean that the major OPs would see much larger turnouts. Again, this is all what I anticipate but I may be wrong. If I am, I can always change the schedule back to the way it was.

I will agree that small games can be better, more organized and teamwork based rather than a bunch of hooligans running around on the field shooting at whatever moves. But, I do understand your logic. It was just another of my .02 cents

No Dom I agree there, the most fun I've had so far was at Newberry when it was a mud slop and only about 45 people were there.
I'm more concerned about games dwindling down to less players than that.
I say go for it! If you aren't taking risks and experimenting then you're falling behind.

It is looking like I will probably try this and see how it goes. Please keep giving me your thoughts though, everyone's insight is welcome.

Strategies for War at Airfarm, started out with a crazyly thought out scenario that went sorta down hill. Game ended with like 20-30 guys playing around the tower. My guys still say that was the funnest game ever, and I agree with them.
Re: Potential massive schedule expansion, your opinion neede
i have not been into air soft for to long, but as far as i can tell the well organized and planed out games( with scenarios and all that) should happen only once every one to two months. i do not know if you already do this, so if you do please correct me
Over kill is under rated

This is my opinion. Also, If there are more games and people can only afford to go to one a month, attendance at games will decrease. Something to think about.Bushmaster wrote:I, personally, won't play more often no matter how many games are held. In my case, and I think the case of many others, I can't afford to play more than once a month.

Cody and I would play more often if the games were available. We also drive 4+ hours to play in NC for some of the bigger games. Now if gas hits $5.00 per gallon, Oh well!

I like it how it is. I try to make the two games a month and I definitely won't go to anymore and think it will probably hurt attendance a lot.

Re: Potential massive schedule expansion, your opinion neede
My main reason for not playing more is work, but if theres something closer that i can make a half day, ill be showing up more.
Id like to know where these new fields are, specifically the midlands and upstate fields. I would also be interested to know if anyone has looked for potential fields in northern I-77 area. I know theres a lot of players in york county, lancaster county, and even up in to charlotte areas. would be nice not to have to make a long drive every once in a while ourselves.

Although I like this idea, I would have to say I would most likely still only get to one game a month. This is partly because I pay for gas, mine AND my brother's field fees, BBs, ect. And also partly because I like to spend as much time as I can with my girlfriend.

how old is your brother? Is he young enough that he can't pay for himself? It's really nice of you to pay for him, but ya know......
