VFC SCAR-H CQC spring

Post by dftrent12 » Mon Jun 13, 2011 3:04 pm

I just got this gun and it chrono'd at around 350fps (what i expected) but I wanted to bump the FPS up so I'm wondering what is the strongest spring I can put in it leaving the rest of the gearbox stock. I just don't want to kill my gearbox by putting the wrong spring in. I'm wanting to try to get about 400FPS with .23/.25 bb's. Thanks so much guys.

350 with a .20, or 350 with a .25?

350 .20 = M110
350 .25 = M120

Either way you want a M130, and the stock internals should hold up to that just fine. VFC M16 gearboxes are identical to the M4 gearboxes except that they come with a M130 instead of a M120. I haven't personally inspected a modern VFC SCAR, but I would be willing to bet the same applies.

Speaking of that: Skywalker, I saw your VFC SSR and it's AMAZING! What have you put in it because I'm very impressed.

if you put a m130 spring then your ROF is gonna be low without using a good torque motor. I would put a strong torque motor with a high spring.

Nope, the VFC motors can pull a M130 fine. My ROF (using an 11.1v 20c lipo, for what its worth) was nearly the same on a M130 as it was on a M120.

FYI for anyone wondering with the gauge wire that comes stock on the cqc the motor can't draw enough power to pull a 130.

^He is correct. Also while I was in there I confirmed that it is in fact an E series gearbox, same as their M4's/M16s with the obvious exceptions, which means it will do great as soon as we put in better wire and is an excellent buy (but then, it's a VFC).
