M150-160 Setup
Would a stock VFC's gearbox be able to handle an M150? If not what would give my VFC M16 the ability to handle a m150-160 (mine as well boost the fps a little more with a 160 if I can) setup. If you could give me the name of the parts. Would the SHS piston, gears, etc be up to it and keep in mind this is coming from a college kid who doesn't have access to a bunch of money like some of the US Patriot employees.

Re: M150-160 Setup
I don't know about you, but I'm broke as can be.
Anyway, the VFC gears should be fine, but the piston would definitely not be okay. A SHS metal tooth piston would probably stand up to the stress well enough. I'd probably replace the motor w/a high torque motor if I were you... perhaps the SHS high torque.
I honestly can't remember if the VFC cylinder head is polycarb, acrylic, or metal. A nice double O-ring aluminum head would fit the bill, if it's isn't metal already.

There's no kill switch on awesome!

So a new piston, cylinder, and motor plus a nice little AJAX STS?SteevoLS wrote:I don't know about you, but I'm broke as can be.

Re: M150-160 Setup
What is a good cylinder head? I am kinda new at the internal part of airsoft guns.
Re: M150-160 Setup
SHS makes a nice one; no need to shell out on a Systema or anything like that.
The VFC piston heads are ported aluminum. You might look in to a silent piston head or something along those lines simply to cut back on noise.

Re: M150-160 Setup
But the VFC piston head would work fine? I am trying not to get things if I absolutely don't have too.
Re: M150-160 Setup
I'm using a metal piston head in my SPR gearbox; I wouldn't do it without either a lot of sorbo or the STS, but it won't really hurt anything.

Re: M150-160 Setup
Get some sorbo padding instead of the STS then, the STS is expensive, sorbo is not. Also, polycarb piston heads are cheaper than metal heads.
Re: M150-160 Setup
That's it. I'm throwing a M200 in a JG shell w/STS.
(well, M160 for now)

Re: M150-160 Setup
I know how to install the STS but it all depends on whether or not I can get my parents to buy the stuff for me for my birthday. If they will I will just get the STS bc I have heard more about its success than the sorbo padding. There are just too many options
