Sawn-off snipers
(Mainly directing this towards chippy and felix, but here's a thread for discussion of this)
So, did you guys just estimate where it looked right or did you measure before cutting? I measured mine and cut it so I could still drop a 205mm in it if I wished to upgrade the barrel.
Also, do you guys have any particular plans or is yours more for "something to look cool"? Right now If anything I plan to just lower the spring level a bit if it isn't cqb level, but otherwise I'm going to leave it since .2s fly pretty straight for about 100' or so.

Re: Sawn-off snipers
Well, today I just cut down the barrel and removed the stock. However, I used a dremel to keep the grip and just cut off the actuall stock part. I also removed about an inch or so of the outer barrel so that a little bit of the inner poked out. By doing this I was able to mod my mp5 front sight to for over the inner. But, I do have future plans for it. It won't be very practical but it will be BA. I will post pictures of it tomorrow evening.
Re: Sawn-off snipers
I guessed at mine 100% with Dom laughing the whole time. I had already broken the stock off and fixed the handgrips, thought it was the best thing to do instead of tashing.
Make em CQB, only way to effectivly use them, and look cool.
And look wise, heck i painted mine red, its made to look so hipster cool. I may try to create a bayonnet spot for my rubber knife just because.

The bayonet idea actually sounds pretty amazing.
And of course cqb rating is a must felix.
On another note tho, I may be getting a second asr to do this again.

Idk, the reason I would get a second one is because my girlfriend is trying to claim mine as hers. She has even said she would start playing with me because of it.

Yeah, I figured on taking her to a few games before getting her one of her own if she really decides she wants to play.

Re: Sawn-off snipers
I've got an ASR and I've got to say, for $115 plus the $30 upgrade kit, you cannot beat it. At all. So stop trying too. lol. From my experience, if I could go back in time, I'd buy my ASR with the upgrade kit, drop a tightbore into it, and buy some .43s and go at it. Best setup for the money. Bar none. And straight-forward too to boot.
Re: Sawn-off snipers
Wait.. what?
I can beat it. And have beaten it.
Also, is it sawn off?

Re: Sawn-off snipers
In other news, I need to try and find a new barrel cap, preferably a rubber one, that I can put on this. Also, I want to look into things I can do to further quiet the asr. I'm turning this into a full on project now...

Re: Sawn-off snipers
Use the old cap, thats what I did. And quiet wise , youll need to sorbo the cylinder, maybe silent upgrades. Otherwise, nothing

Re: Sawn-off snipers
Pack foam into all the empty parts of the gun, and I don't know how easily it can be done with basrs, but with AEGs, another thing you can try is to balance the amount of air in you cylinder with the amount of air in your barrel. All that excess air is what makes guns "POP" when they are shot.
Re: Sawn-off snipers
The asr has little to know room at all, maybe some underneath in the plastic handguards. But how do you balance the air exactly?Star_folder wrote:Pack foam into all the empty parts of the gun, and I don't know how easily it can be done with basrs, but with AEGs, another thing you can try is to balance the amount of air in you cylinder with the amount of air in your barrel. Re: Sawn-off snipers
I would love to use the old cap, but it doesnt fit in the barrel at the moment. hence looking for a rubber cap, because there's a few little spurs on the end.
That is currently one of the minor problems with doing this right now tho, I don't seem to have a tool around to re-thread the inside of the outer barrel for things like barrel adapters.
@kory: I haven't had it apart lately, so I can't remember if there's any space around the mech to sorbo. I had thought about breaking it down to sorbo the cylinder tho. I need to see if there's anywhere around that I can find sorbo for sale. I want to try and avoid getting it off the internet if possible. (mostly for convenience)
@felix again: Best way I could think, take the parts out, fill the barrel with water, pour it into a cup, then do the same with the cylinder and try to get it so they hold the same amount.
