With any metal part(s) it is much more feasible to buy one then make one. The tools needed to make one are extremely costly and the time needed to make it with said tools is way more than makes sense if you are only making one. Now, buying parts and then removing material to suit your needs is something that is done all the time. Why would you want to make homemade gears?

I wouldn't try a barel. However, if you have high end machining equipment and CAD you could custom makes gear sets. Again, it would take a lot of time to design it and the tolerances would have to be good, but if you made them out of a hardened moly alloy they would be very strong.

I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.

If you make one, dont tell anyone about it. Any device that reduces the sound signature of a firearm is a big no no. Suppressors are federally regulated, so big brother would have something to say about it. Since most of the noise generated by a AEG is generated by the motorand gearbox, not the projectile leaving the barrel, it isnt worth the risk.

Okay thanks, I didn't know those laws applied to airsoft guns. Thanks for the heads up!

He's right. If a federal agent ever decides to come over sometime they will definitely confiscate it. However, memphis is wrong about their usability. Obviously he has never heard any of my darn near silent AEG builds. Being they are so near to being silent, I can understand why this would be the case. I have explained sound dampening AEGs ad nauseam somewhere in the tech topics section, let me see if I can find it...

Found it: http://www.southcarolinaairsoft.com/for ... hilit=foam
I'll add something to my statement, it was brought up recently by Star_folder, and that is not to have an overabundance of air in the cylinder compared to the barrel length.
