Fulda Gap 2011

Post by Dominum » Sun Oct 16, 2011 8:35 pm

I had a great time at Fulda Gap, and I got to see a lot of familiar faces. The field is very unique and the elaborate trench systems make for some every intense defense AND offense. The armor was neat; getting to watch 5 tanks fight each other is something I have not gotten to do at a game before. The shear numbers charging across huge areas was also pretty cool. For the first hour GRAVE held the extreme right flank of the NATO lines, and the M60 put 12,000 rounds into hundreds of charging Warsaw Pact soldiers who charged valiantly across the valley at us time and time and time again. Too bad they failed. I am glad I went and I enjoyed myself very much, however in the future I think I will only go out of state for MilSim games.

I had a blast. I have never pissed so many BBs before in my entire airsoft career. There were some people not calling their hits, but still, AJAX carved our name deep in Spetsnaz's grave stone.

had a great time in the 39th...fulda was a great big opposites day....tan was green, green was tan...threw my targeting radar way off...best moment was a suicide charge into rex, by myself....i looked cool. got rung in the temple from someone i thought isaftey killed...o well...then armor rolled in after me and kileld the guys iwas in a foxhole with anyways..we laffed about it and rolled on....i dont hink there is any downhill terrain at cdwc...i think i got 6000 rounds off or mroe in the saw...the stock broke off and i was rolling para style. Joined up with spetsnaz sunday, they wanted my lmg with them..then the piston stripped...as bad as i abused that gun...i wasnt suprised...
one thing i noticed...us 40 plus crowd dont compain as much about getting hit...had this discussion with some campers...we chalked it up to the fact when we were kids we shot reall bb guns at each other and firewowrks, rock and such....this is only plastic...
mother...alwaysa pleasure to be on the field with you...your stories are the best...and thanlyou for confrming my .50 "rules"
and DIESEL....the coffee made sunday morning....

i must say i was pleasantly surprised. i had a very bad experience last time i went to this field with the play of the nc players but this time wasnt near as bad i only had maybe 2 issues. i had a blast with my boys from aiircross for those of you who didnt make it you missed out. it was nice seeing so many guys from sc and had fun in the camp ground with all of you. grave it was a pleasure rolling with you on bravo 8-4 element we did kick some major booty. i made some new friends which is always a plus. one of the most memorable moments for me was when someone let me borrow a co2 mag for my pistol and i was standing in rex and garrett ask me to shoot it to see how far it would shoot and i randomly fire at a bunker in the valley and some warsaw player stood up with his dead rag on that is didnt even see behind the bunker. talk about a lucky shot. i cant wait for next year. and to diesel the lemonade was awesome

Had a great weekend. This was my first Fulda and definitely wont be my last. Some of those firefights were ridiculous. Other than a few over kill incidents late saturday, and the usual hit calling that happens at every big game, i didnt have any problems. The refs were responsive if you had an issue for the most part. Like chef said, theres not a flat spot there, but surprisingly im hurting the day after less than usual. Met some new folks from NC, and hung out with some of our guys. Thanks to Grave for letting me run with you guys on sunday and giving me a spot by the fire saturday night.

Best memory for me came on sunday. We were attacking Rex out a tree line. Managed to get to the first row of bunkers with one other dude. Next thing we know someone yells "take cover" and here comes the strafe tank down the road. our whole flank retreats and leaves us at the bunker. the tank managed to not see us, but some dude just walked up behind us and knife killed us. wasnt even carrying a gun lol. way to go team!

I only have to say a few things,
I am in pain,

Our Spetsnaz team left a lot to be desired,

PG and Theta5 held our AO all day on Saturday and did about as good as expected. We took Holiday/Duckett with in the first 10 mins of the game. Not sure what teams where up there, but they weren't organized at all to put up resistance. There was always just enough people at Hamburger Hill to deny us coming from Duckett. Advances by both sides always ended in defeat.

Sunday our AO was Alpha/Ambush Alley/OP Alpha. In the beginning we where stationed down at ambush alley. We're not sure why they(Mass of NATO troops at Duckett) didn't just come barreling down to Alpha but we had a pretty good perimeter set up waiting to take at least the wind out of the first charge. We weren't given enough men to hold out for very long. Then the ref came down and said we had to move(ref was with all of us while we where given orders) and we had to fall back, but before we could the game started. After we all died we worked our way back in to ambush alley a couple times(over the first 1hr) only to keep dying so we moved on up to Alpha with SwampFox as overwatch, just in case of an air strike. We would put people back in the base quick and we could cover assaults from SimCity(We weren't there but we knew it was going to fall eventually). Once Sim feel, about 30mins later the attack Alpha began, it rough NATO was well positioned early on, and we where pushed out by (1230ish?) and at the end (2) we just couldn't over come the NATO barrage that was covering on alpha flag.

Shout outs to,

Mirakaski wrote:Slickridley, where did ya'll start from when you attacked Ducket on saturday? The reason it wasn't organized was we all JUST got there when we started getting fired on. Nobody on Nato had a chance to get setup.
No most started at Bentree and just ran across
This is what the assault looked like,

We where up there a good 15mins before game start, and we had sorted out everything with the main squad leaders the night before, we all ready knew what we where doing.

Why did ya'll take so long to get up there? Command issue or...?

This was my third FG event in a row, and I had a blast. Although I had to leave around noon on Sunday due to being so sick I could barely stand anymore. Thanks to everyone for an awesome game.

This was my first fulda, and as Villid said, not my last.

my carpool of SOCOM had a late lunch on saturday, so we came back in with abouth an hour hour and 1/2 left in the game, we book it for Rex to make sure we held it for the end of the day, and it was so neat to walk up to the field as see 4 NATO tanks just sitting on our side of the DMZ waiting for Warsaw armour to show up. It almost felt like you were walking up onto a real battle.

Of course I had some wonderfully fail-tastic Tactical sliderollingfallingover moments that go down in funniest things I've ever done. First time was trying to get away from an enemy tank that was rolling on Rex. No AT around at all, so I try to book it from the tiny ass bunker I was at into the tree line, fell over, rolled forward and amazing got to my feet to dive into the tree line without ever thinking about it and never got hit by the tank. Second time was again at Rex, was trying to push up to help hold the line from a "Zerg rush" try to slide into cover, ended up about 5 ft away even though I was sliding down hill momentum got me up to my feet which then caused me to tumble forward into the bunker just to get shot >.<

Had a great time, loved seeing everyone that came from the AOSC, and meeting new people, apparently some SOCOM members found some people that are from around here up there, so we might be getting some new members soon.

Great game guys!!!!!!!!! Best Fulda for me yet!

Big Thanks for support from AJAX, SSAirsfot, ODA, SOCOM, Aircross, AARP, GRAVE, Echo Team, Black Devils, and everyone else that joined the 8th! No need to go into details, because you guys know what you did - and Sunday was a turkey shoot from base to base, taking every base we pushed on while whipping out the entire Warsaw SF along the way!!

Just a heads up and a year to think about it. I will be Commanding the Warsaw Pack next year and hope the same guys that joined me on the NATO 8th will join me on Warsaw next year!

Thanks again to everyone - Special thanks to AJAX for all the help on and off the field!
