TB length

Post by Inked » Mon Nov 23, 2009 5:09 pm

CA M4, I plan on getting a FTK, and the madbul Gemtech Halo.  How long of an inner barrel can I run so that it runs threw the mock silencer.  Can I run a M16 length?  If I run a longer barrel do I need to change the type of cylinder or FTK I get.

Thanks,

Brian

You do not need to mess with the cylinder assembly at all. All you need to do is swap out the inner barrel. Be careful not to rip the hop-up bucking though. A bit of silicone oil should do the job.

As far as the length of Halo silencer goes, I have no idea what the answer is.
My guess is yes, it will cover M16 length inner barrel when installed on an M4 barrel.

When I added a silencer to my M4 Seal, I measured from the hop-up to the threads and added the length for the silencer.  I converted that from inches to mm (I think that's the measurement, it's been a while), then found the barrel that was closest to the length, without going over.  It worked out great.

You will need a zero port cylinder if you are planning on getting an M16 length barrel to run through a suppressor in an M4 that currently has a ported cylinder (they come stock with a port).

Simply put, in your case, just buy an M16 FTK rather than an M4 one, and run whatever barrel length you want (within reason, otherwise you need a bore up kit) through the suppressor. As stated, measure the extra length in mm and buy a barrel slightly shorter than the suppressor. You NEVER want an inner barrel to poke out at all, I just repaired a gun where a guy had his poking out an inch, he bumped it, and ruined his hopup chamber, bucking, and airnozzle. Also, you want it to sit back from the very end at least a bit, to make it harder for dirt and various other crap to get in.

*PSA: When extending your barrel, always remember that the usable volume of the cylinder MUST exceed the volume of the inner barrel, otherwise barrel suck will cause low and/or inconsistent FPS.

Also, if you are intending the suppressor to function as such, do not run the barrel through it, buy a FTK with sorbothane on the cylinder head, and add foam to the suppressor. (If silence is your intent, PM me for more details)

Thanks Dom.  I figured just to get a M16 FTK, I just want the better accuracy.  I like the look of the suppressor, not worried about being quiet.

Though greater barrel length and a quality TBB (preferably SS) will give a slight improvement to accuracy, remember the two primary influences on accuracy are the bucking and BBs themselves.
