My perfect M4 would be an M4 carbine(old school, no rails), Nice black paintjob, heavily weathered and two point sling. The problem with this is my M4 is plastic bodied. I've been theorising on some fake wear patterns/methods.
I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.

my m4 is plastic bodied as well. if you want to weather it, get a little bit of pea gravel and rub it all over the body of the gun till it looks weathered.
I only make 10 bucks a week so i'm short on money too but somehow i can afford a $200 m4 and other crap. its funny how stuff works :P

WhatI meanis paint-worn-down weathered. I'm thinking of painting the high wear areas with steel model paint and painting a light coat of black over them.

If it shoots good ,and you dont want to mess with the internals , than leave it alone . the only thing i could could recomend is get a metal body because eventually ,you will break it.! also remeber you are only as good as your back ups,back-up . so save and get a another gun .You can never have too many guns, plus looks doesnt get kills . skill and good internals do !

Cleric, the actual quote is "If the back up to the back up's back up doesn't make people drool then you fail"

my back up is my awesomesauce mp5sd. my backups backup is my 37 rps mac11. my backups backups backup is my launcher, which has inspired awe in many a player and tank. and made people drool. i do not fail.
as for the metal body, i don't plan on getting one anytime soon. it already weighs 11.3 pounds with the plastic body so i think its heavy enough.

My primary is an AKM encrusted w/real steel parts and 35-40 year old Romanian furniture stained with the blood, gunpowder, and dirt of decades of real war. My backup to that is a $1600 SPR Mk12 that makes 300'+ shots with ease. My backup to that is an ultra rare 1-out-of-190 M733 PTWs ever made, retailing at $1600 and with nearly $500 of accessories. My backup to that backup... well, I don't need to go on.

I win at drool-inducement.

Actually, i win, because if I was to tie you down to a chair, and beat your head for hours on end with my rubber knife, you would probably drool a little from brain trauma.
