Re: OP: Second Sun
Wanted to start by saying thanks to the creative team and admin for designing and running a great game. This was the first time I've been on an airsoft field in over a year and a half. It was good to see some familiar faces and make some new friends. Vesper, thanks for taking time off from your admin duties to sit and chat a spell in the midst of the field of fire with me bro. Big Chris, it was good shooting at you and then having a laugh about it later. Mike, thanks for the lunch.
And Avenger, the black guy hanging off of the cliff by a tree root firing back up the hill was me. And I hit two Alpha players.

Re: OP: Second Sun
First off, I think AJAX did a great job of managing game, I think there was some team balancing issues in the beginning, but I think over all it was a phenomenal game. I speak for Team Eagle we will all be here for the next Blue Hole Op. With that being said, I enjoyed running around the lovely terrain, by far my favorite field, and nice secret mission Dom
The only hitch we experienced was a mandatory bit of hit calling issues (Happens with every game, no way to truly get rid of it), not being able to use our tank for our team (We understand due to Alpha being bent over the fence 24/7), and a individual who wanted to escalate things past a game. Fortunately this individual scampered away when the rest of the pack came up to the plate, but non the less that was the only issues we had all day. From an organizational stand point, Op Second Sun was a phenomenal success, good job AJAX, looking forward to the next Op.

Re: OP: Second Sun
I guess it's time for some input.
I think my high light of the day was having the classic sniper's dilemma, shooting a guy and watching them shrug it off the shot.
It was towards the beginning of the day, when bravo was assaulting the central pine tree base that was controlled by alpha at the time. I, along with two others, ran around to flank to give our main force a little help, and to provide some intel as to where people were hiding. Anyway, we opened fire and I started pelting the side of the cliff, making people move or call their hits. There was a guy who shrugged off one of my shots, I saw him jump, raise his gun, look around, then go back to looking towards the main fighting force. He should have called his hit, as I abused the semi auto on my DMR until he was jumping and twitching trying to get his dead rag out faster.
Should be a lesson to call your hits, or you'll keep getting shot.
Beyond that, the rest of the day was just "normal." The biggest problem I had was not being able to see my shots and to adjust them accordingly. Tan bbs on a tan background makes them invisible. 'Cause of that, I went through almost twice as much ammo as I normally go through, simply laying no my trigger.
Thinking back, I don't remember cursing every being a problem, I only remember hearing one curse word all day, seems I was just in the right place at the right time to avoid all of that. As for hit calling, the only real problem I had I dealt with, everything else I don't know, there are a few times where I'm sure I hit people, but if you start to let it bother you, you stop having fun. I just enjoyed shooting my gun.
Semlohwerd, you did a fantastic job leading us to victory. Ranger, you did wonderfully keeping people in place. AARP, way to dominate your half of the field. Bravo really had an excellent command structure for this game, we stayed in contact all day, and comms were solid. They didn't break down till the game was almost over, and we were fighting for the last few objectives.
One more thing, who was the sniper team for alpha? They did a fantastic job running around, disappearing in the woods, and just being sneaky. I must have spent a hour trying to find you guys, only to be shot over, and over, and over again.

Re: OP: Second Sun
I like Star's solution to hit calling, but mine adds a step.
Shoot someone, they don't call hit? Move closer. Keep shooting. Repeat until safety kill.

Re: OP: Second Sun
what you need to do is repeat till you're close enough to smack them upside the head. then, it's a stealth kill.

I thought the Alpha base/respawn was a little confusing. At first they said we could respawn on the base of the hill within 75 feet of the flag, and later they changed it to the plateau behind the flag. When we were respawning near the flag, we were coming back to life with Bravo players literally right by us. I think respawns should be at least 100 feet from a base.

Re: OP: Second Sun
This operation was most fun I had at an airsoft game! The field was great, the team I was on, was great (Bravo). There was excellent communication all around. When someone was told on the team to do a task, it was done. No one broke off and everyone kept on going. Hit calling, there is nothing you can do about it unless you can identify people but it's whatever. Spawning was a problem. As I remember, if a base is under attack and you die in the base, you can't spawn there, you must spawn somewhere else. I think it may have been a misunderstanding, but I could be totally wrong.
I got many stories from this, especially when we got surrounded in the middle by like 30 guys behind us, and 10 guys in front of us at a flag (Me and a buddy got away). There was also a time where one man took out 4 people by himself! It was awesome to say the least. I also like our Flank mission when we had to retake take that hill by Bravo HQ. Six of us took a hill held by a far more superior force of Alpha's. Then there was the epic attack on the hill in front of the Alpha HQ. That was fun! haha
The sight of troop movements, good communication, and great tactics was the best thing I have seen. By far, the most realistic mil-sim. Good job Team Ajax and thank you for hosting such a great game.

What happened was that I tried to find a place that was easier to get to instead of climbing the hill. The placement of the Alpha Flag was epic, but not practical. It was my own fault.idiot88 wrote:I thought the Alpha base/respawn was a little confusing. As to Star Folder and his tan bbs. Well the white ones you shoot don't really hit people either. LOL Enjoyed playing with you again this weekend.
This game was great. Very unique terrain and the consensus among the North Carolina group is, we are coming to the next game at this location.
I didn't get to the game until about 11:30 but I really liked the idea of no 1 to 2 hour lunch break. I know I don't like it when we play in Asheville, but that is just me i guess. I tend to get very tired when there is a long break and the flow of the game changes.
I told my son about it and he is ready to get there next time.
Guys, I had more fun here than fulda gap.
Thanks and I look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Jon the pilot, this is Jordan, from bluffton. When you guys were in the back of the field talking about a nuke and LJ sent people off, me and one of our snipers were no more than 40 yards away from you. When LJ said "we have two hostiles in the woods", i thought he meant us, but it was some other alphas. That sent my heart beating. Also, to all Bravos, when you guys were towards the back of the map gathered around the red jeep, talking, me and our sniper were right over that hill to your left, about 20 feet away. Didnt move until you guys drove off. That definetly scared the crap out of us.
I am the brother of Marpat96...we look just alike.

AARP Checking inhere.... Not really good at AARs or the mushy post game "good job everyone" speech. But here it goes.
1. Ajax: good job. Seriously, you know we love you guys and it was an honor to play in your first official game. Things ran smoothly despite you guys having Diesel. (Seriously you guys are letting him get too big of a head!)
2. Drew/Ranger: Great job all day long. Seriously for a first time CO Drew, you did a great job. (Seriously I do not hand out compliments very often, so take it!) Communication was pretty good all day. At any time I could get one of ya'll on the radio and that make my job a bit easier. A bit of sitting around from time to time but we can make Alpha come and get some if they really don't want to. Oh and Ranger... Next time I see ya I am buying you a map. Augusta = Augusta and BFE = 30 miles SW of Augusta!!! You live in BFE!!!
3. The hit calling was not as much of a problem as it has been in the past. We had the one PolarStar that shoots 400+ feet and the EBR that shoots 300+ feet. For the most part, we hit people and even if they thought there was no way it could be us, they still called it. Few exceptions but overall not too much of a problem.
4. Lack of a lunch break was ok this time of year... Don't you dare try it in the summer. Hell Ajax, if it were me I would really think about some water stations in the summer like at Fulda. I can see how that place could turn into the surface of the sun... I just wont be experiencing it since I will not play there in the summer that is for sure!!
All in all, great job to both sides. We had a lot of fun. I would like to know who the two guys were we kept running into as a team the last few ours of the day. You guys put up a pretty good fight!
Thanks again SC for all your love. We will see ya again soon!
