I am a bit of a jerk.
There have been a lot of games since the last fatality. Roses are red, violets are blue, so is your car at 102

Whats wrong with our current games? I thought BH was pretty good.
Also, when you go do all those flyers on your own time and all that, make sure you get the A-OK from the field owners, and make sure they actually look good, not just some highschooler photoshop junk put together in 12 minutes.

If I ever actually get to create a flyer, I'll have some other people check over it prior to printing it out. Generally I like Flyers because they're a great way to start a conversation. I'll put it up in some high traffic areas with a "Contact BlahBlahBlah for more information!" message.

Re: State of Airsoft
If someone would post the AOSC symbol in a SVG format, I'll take a stab at it.
Re: State of Airsoft
I have it somewhere, but I haven't touched that file in the better part of 2 years. I'll send it to you if I can find it.

I will make sure those flyers are good too, I'll post a rough draft when I get finished so everyone can find the problems with it.

Re: State of Airsoft
Also what does everybody think about having different forums for regions of the state and have the AOSC as a meeting place for statewide games like stealth hero said I'm coming to like that idea?

Re: State of Airsoft
After reading this thread, I have come to the following conclusions.
Airsoft in SC is good, but still has a long way to go. We have a central forum that anybody can post up games, from anywhere. There have been games as far away as Oklahoma on here. The AOSC sets up games and tries to get new fields. We have added PBC and running games at Rattlesnake Ridge again. I would like to see games at the Swamp and the Escue's added. Since we have the calender already made for this year, those field will be an option for next year.
NC has a central forum, but games are run by the field owners. Those games are listed by field. The NCAO does not "run" games. This works in NC, not sure if it would here.
GA has a forum for about every team and field. Not saying this is bad, but there is no cohesion in GA. Players are loyal to 1 or 2 fields. This seems to work for them.
These are 3 different types of organizations, and they seem to work for that particular state. Does this mean we are wrong and they are right, or other way around. No, this is what seems to work.
If you want to grow the sport, word of mouth does the best. I have a side business and do no advertising and stay busy more than I can handle. Why? Word of mouth.
If anybody wants to make flyers, by all means please do so.
As far as Ajax running this forum, I think Steevo answered that. When I joined here over 2 yrs ago, Grave had the most reps. This has changed since then. It will change in the future. We, as mods/reps get burned out doing this, and sometimes we just want to be a player.
The AOSC is always welcome to suggestions. You can either start a thread or pm a mod. We do discuss things, even tho it sometimes it doesn't look like it.
Any questions, feel free to pm me.

On a side note, Airsoft in SC will only be as good as its players.

I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.
Re: State of Airsoft
That sounds like a horrible idea. Let's take the 100-200 active players (only ~50 of which probably even post here), and further dilute and break apart the group. What would that accomplish? Instead of telling some new player to go check out www.southcarolinaairsoft.com (where they can learn everything they need to know about the state's fields, games, and players), they would end up at snootyupstaters.cheapskateforums.com or underdoglowcountryairsofters.icantaffordanything.org.atl wrote:Also what does everybody think about having different forums for regions of the state and have the AOSC as a meeting place for statewide games like stealth hero said I'm coming to like that idea?

Re: State of Airsoft
Times like this I wish I kept my mouth shut more than I already do. To start with, anyone who wants to complain about the number of reps from one team, if you have a problem then step up and see if you have what it takes to be a decent rep. per the charter, a rep has to make it to at least one AOSC game a month, with the allowance of two within reason, but many make it to a vast majority, if not every game. Not to mention the effort they have to put into setting up the games, writing the scenarios, listening to kids complain about nonsense, ect.
Also, turning the AOSC board into a central hub is yet another one of those ideas I have that would take years to be any good. As steevo said, splitting up an already small active population is just asking for a collapse. besides, I would call any game a "statewide" game. One of the better aspects, as previously mentioned, is that we have a central place for games from everywhere and anywhere to be posted and discussed. if there was to be any kind of division past whats already in place, I can't see a reason to go farther than doing something for regions and then out of state, which the scaa did, and probably got screwed by.
I didn't post to start crap btw, I have a tendency to think too much, and post ideas I think would work in a perfect world, even if only to get a bit of talk going and ideas flowing, but unless I say something explicitly, don't use me to start crap. Yes I mentioned a possible rule about limiting the number of reps from a team, but that was taken out of context to bask ajax. we'll need that rule when a day comes that reps are just there to make rules/steer the ship (so to speak), but as long as the aosc is as it is now (everyone has some say, reps do all the work while everyone else complains but are too lazy to do it themselves), then that rule is as pointless as telling a fish to jump out of a river and fix your guns.

Maybe what he trying to say was that AOSC boards should consider having regional sections on the board like the old SCAA board has?SteevoLS wrote:That sounds like a horrible idea. Re: State of Airsoft
In the point that I kinda camped on SCAA and probably still will when I get home, the dispute on whos in charge, where, and get off my forum if you don't like the status quo is counter productive. Arguments of what group, sub group is in charge is nothing more then hateing a man for being a man, and if Robin wont come back in any form of faculty it is time to either pick his brain, or emulate his good qualities. Remember his qualities and bring what you liked to the new people, don't wish for change act upon it.
That said, the regions thing worked in some regard aren't necessarly a plus. Might I suggest regional support sections for the 3rd world regions of SC, and actually getting much of GA that hasn't populated its own forum and are close to us involved. Possibly if a team gets enough people give them a sub area that there team can go to to help them get off the ground (this might be way to much work). Give them 1-2 years free space and a understandable yearly upkeep fee to host a team section on the forum after that point. For instance
Southern Tip/Beaufort/whatever you wanna call it.
-Open forum for region
--team forum in that area
Also maybe a section on Leadership, Team Building and Community Building forum. Some place to bounce ideas around not about the sport or guns, but teamwork skills, training people are doing/thinking about attempting, and advertizing ideas.
