P90 Motor Selection

Post by Esteban » Sun Feb 26, 2012 5:44 pm

Hello All,

I recently acquired a new Echo 1 P90. I swapped out the spring for an Element M95, shimmed, and regreased the thing. It's shooting 315-320FPS pretty consistently now.

Besides the spring, the gearbox is stock. The parts look decent, so I don't want to replace anything until it breaks.

The motor is absolutely horrible. It smells bad, it whines, and it gives a very low ROF.

I want to know what motor I should put into this P90. I was thinking a TM EG1000 for $45 would up the ROF and give better performance.

What would you guys suggest?

SHS speed motor. You can get them for $35 shipped to your door. Faster with twice the torque of a TM EG1000.

That's a good idea. Where would I buy one? I can't find one for $35 shipped.

http://www.major9labs.com/motors.html

He uses flat rate boxes to ship stuff out, thus an extra $5 on top of the motor's price.

Thanks for the link. Now, should I get a high torque or high speed with my current stock setup?

Also, is the pinion gear pressure fitted or is it one of those D slots with a set screw?

Set screw, you can see it in the top picture.

M95 spring doesn't need anything other than a speed motor
