A little help

Post by Avenger » Sun Mar 04, 2012 12:13 pm

My Dad is worried that the gearbox in his stock KA M4A1 Sportline gearbox is going to explode. He's running a 11.1 lipo from Dom and it's CRAZY fast. I'm talking minigun.

Is his gearbox going to explode, and what preventative measures can be taken?
I do not always accidentally, but when I do, I accidentally the whole thing.

Yes, no mosfet or upgraded internals; something is going to give way much sooner than normal while using a 11.1.

Upgrade the gun to handle the voltage. Or use a different battery, like a 7.4v lipo

I have to post in every topic in the technical forum because I have to post in every topic in the technical forum.

Basically what Skywalker said. Your gun will break eventually, and most likely, it'll be your piston. But to run an 11.1v without worrying much about your system, you need 3 things. AoE corrected, shimmed gears, and a mosfet, in that order of importance. AoE so the piston doesn't die, Shimming so the gears don't eat themselves, and mosfet to protect your trigger contacts. The AoE is the most important because your piston will take the most of the damage. Your gears are a little more resilient, but are still breakable if the shimming on them is THAT bad. And, depending on the strength of the battery, the stronger the battery, the more it will damage your trigger contacts.
