OP: SOCO
Re: OP: SOCO
Although I will admit that the difference in bases somewhat influenced the outcome of the game, I think that it should just be considered a stratregic hurtle that SC was to leap. Grinding up the hill all day vs. Ga player waltzing downhill towards us made things a little challenging, but not impossible. Still would've liked to have that castle though.
There is enough drama on this thread, so I will not point fingers as to why things went the way they did. If SC and GA don't get along then lets simply wait awhile before attempting something like this again. Arguing about who didn't do what wont stop the select players that broke rules. (On both sides.) And it sure as hell won't change the fact that SC walked away feeling somewhat unwelcome. (At least that's how my team seem's to have felt.)
In the beginning things quickly drew to a stalemate, as they commonly do when two equally determined forces collide. I had a pretty good time digging in on the outskirts of the city and went a pretty long time without taking a bullet. I can confirm that on the way up there, we (1st platoon) to a few casualties via friendly fire from 3rd platoon on our left flank. Luckily a few radio transmissions cleared that up. I still feel that if we had gotten the armored support we needed, 1st platoon could've taken and held the city early on. Yet, only about 45b min after we dug in, Ga forces pushed us back and gained point Russia.
The fight evolved from and advance on the city to a porous defense line, thus allowing the 7-8 Ga players to get into our under-staffed HQ.
On that note, I was the first SC player to enter back into the base after it had been blown out. I made an attempt to supress the GA guys still occupying the area, but ended up becoming pinned in the huge dirt pit beside out HQ structure. If not for the SC troops who came at the GA troops from behind, I would've gotten overrun. I didn't even realize I had been assisted till an equally confused SC player charged over the dirt pile trying to saftey kill me. (Apologies for the two rounds to the chest. You spooked me pretty good. )
I will admit that IronFox had no idea about the early lunch, and that we went on an amazingly far-right flanking maneuver to attempt a strike at GA HQ. Although it was a fruitless mission, we were at least able to get a few pics of some GA maps with all the codenames clear as crystal. Hope that wasn't against the rules.
Despite our shortcomings, I had a good time. Didn't really get to fight alongside the usual friendly faces this time, but meeting some of the newer players was kinda nice.

It was that reason I shot at him while flanking from the right. Someone yelled back, "Marauder, what the hell are you doing?" So many Georgia players had green camo, it was difficult to determine who was who at a distance.Foxx wrote: On that note, I was the first SC player to enter back into the base after it had been blown out. Re: OP: SOCO
One thing to keep in mind is the scrub brush that was all over that field.
Here's my perspective of an incident:
Me and two of my guys all fired on one Ga guy for several seconds before he called it. Sound like an honorable player?
Here's what his post would probably look like:
I saw three SC guys standing together and I started shooting at the group for several seconds and only one of them called a hit.
Here's what really happened: After all of the continuous fire, one (and only one) of his BB's was able to break through the brush and hit me. Since the Ga guy called hit as well, I assume pretty much the same thing happened with our BB's too.
Point being, people never seem to call their hits in the brush, more often than not because they don't get hit.
Don't let this game leave a bad taste in your mouth about Ga or the Ga/SC games. Every operation series has it's problems in the beginning.

Very, very true Jester.
I wish to thank you all for letting me run with you on 2nd. You guys were and are stand up players. We did not have issues as the rest of the field seemed to have..
Thank you deeply.
2nd platoon rocked it with honor!

Re: OP: SOCO
Yeah, the camos were a bit confusing. I managed to shoot a friendly who was wearing ACU with a red patch on his arm... Thought it was red tape. Sorry!
I really enjoyed the beginning charge. As I lay on the hill trying to hold back Georgia, all the guys around me were getting shot. After they were all gone, I layed (lied?) still for probably 15 minutes and someone ran into the woods 20 feet away from me. I turned and popped him. After he bled out (actually he just picked up and left) someone else did the same. This went on a good four times until someone wisened up.
Also loved our push for the city. It was great to take out all those GA guys and watch the others running for the hills (literally)! I applaud our medics. They worked their BUTTS off running across the road back and forth to heal us.
I really liked the medic tape concept. That was cool.

^ this is what I wanted to see for after action report. That is a good battle, fish in barrel, story.
Re: OP: SOCO
Yeah, the medic tape was neat. I actually like it better than the masking tape they issued at Irene.
Ghost we want to thank you for letting US play on second. We went down frequently but we went down with honor.

Re: OP: SOCO
i didnt get a chance to be out on the field much. one of the few times was when the benning and oda teams escorted me to the woods south of the city to let me see what was going on and to try to establish better communications. i really enjoyed watching the sc players fight it out in the city. like i said in my opinion all of the sc players fought well and did an excellent job. there were times when i was called on the radio by people saying they were fixing to be overrun and they got support and held their ground. i feel bad that i didnt get to get out there as much but i was breifed by alot of players on their stories from the day. one highlight for me is the ga team that did the first base blow and the only co kill on me. after talking with them and asking how they got back there they told me they crawled on their bellies for 2 hours along the western hill. i gave them all fist bump and congradulated them on the dedication they had to get to our hq. they even told me that they didnt want anything other than the base blow token even though they could have taken more and i thought that was really cool. i even called the ga co on the radio and told him about it. the other exciteing thing that happened to me was being invaded by a huge 5 foot rat snake at our hq. one of the defense guys unloaded an entire high cap on him. i acctually felt bad for the snake. let me say the most enjoyable things for me at this game was being able to be the sc commander and working with a great command staff and all the stories around the campfire which in my humble opinion is 50 percent of what airsoft is about. just hanging out with great people and having fun is what does it for me. oh and i cant forget my personal team aircross calling me over behind our hq when i was briefing all the players at night and setting off a grenade on me. fun times
Re: OP: SOCO
I for one, and my team, did have fun this weekend. Thank you battlezone and admins for hosting this game. And a bigger thank you to the Ga players that came to our aid when our numbers were diminished! That shows great sportsmanship and a desire to have a fun filled game above 'winning'! There are always issues when you throw 300 people together in stress filled situations, I think everyone needs to step back and take a few breaths.
Hit calling - at 100 feet, looking down the barrel of a 400 fps gun, you can see white bbs traveling toward you. I had an admin not more than 20 feet from me watch a player shoot at me on full auto, I just stepped sideways - he yelled 'I hit you".. he fired again and same thing, he yelled ' come on man!'... he sprayed full auto and I ran sideways firing back at him, still didn't hit me, admin was watching, now the guy was was livid. 2 other Ga players came up from the other direction and hit me, I yelled hit, and the admin walked over and said ' NOW he is hit'...
For what it is worth, something to think about when accusing someone of cheating.
Unfortuneatly, there was some blatant cheating and other issues. You want to help put a stop to it? Put your dead rag on, walk up and say something, if the player is irate or refused to acknowledge, get a name or a good description of them, DO NOT ARGUE or THREATEN, and take the name /description to the admins. Telling them 'a random sc/ga player is not safe/calling hits/whatever ' will accomplish NOTHING when there are 300 people there. Believe it or not, there are a lot of new players who are not clear on the sport. How about the 'I'm wearing a plate carrier/ kevlar helmet, it's bullet proof!' incident? There were really only a few bad eggs on both sides, if they had been effectively reported, they would have stopped or removed, believe me, the field owner does NOT want something happening that would result in a liability, signed waivers or not.

Re: OP: SOCO
Alright, my report is going to have two parts, the first will be to get my two cents out of the way after reading the rest of the thread and suffering through the bickering and bad grammar. The second part will be what I have to say of my experience.
IMO, the game did kind of suck. This opinion may change when it's not so fresh in my mind, but as it stands, I don't know as I would have gone if I could go back again. This however is at least just as much because of the nonsense and bickering as the gameplay though. To start with, to cycobob, talking crap of our command staff when out CO has spoke highly of you the entire time is just a dickish thing to do. I have yet to hear of Mojo bashing you for anything, so there's no need to bash him or our other command staff when they did a great job doing their best to keep SC from tossing the towel early.
Second, while some of the "hit calling issues" may truly have been brush blocks or over-estimating distances, there is no denying that hit calling was a big issue with stories like Green Ninja's, or an occasion of my own when I lit up a guy with the red arm tape for almost 30 seconds, on the roadway, before he would pull his dead rag, which I'm sure he did only to get me to stop spraying him since he ran off as soon as it was out and I stopped shooting. There were other occasions as well, but be it brush or whatever, full auto seemed to fix it.
Third, I have mostly only heard about other issues regarding MEDs, or the tanks, but I did have one incident of my own involving me and my MED. Long story short, I sprayed an ally who was probably within my MED, but apoligized and thankfully there was no harm done. So I know that people (myself included) aren't that great at telling distances. However, there is no excuse for shooting someone at 10' when you have a 50' med, which I had heard reports of. And, if that was the actual case, the night game shouldn't have been counted as a forfeit, and I'm truly appalled at the celebrating I heard from the GA when it was announced that we had quit the night game because of the safety issues they were responsible for. If winning is that important as to risk severe injury or just ruin the game, then I want no part of it.
Anyway, there's my rant for the time being. On to my game experiences.
At the start of the day I tried using my glorified pea shooter, an Echo 1 ASR that was chopped down and set to CQB limits. I made it into the valley on the right side (from SC HQ) of the field, and laid down behind a log waiting to ambush some guys coming down the creek. I got one, but after about my 3rd shot, I was taken out because what I didnt realize is that that fire team of seven, was actually a small platoon of 20-30. After respawn I went up the hill to Overwatch, but after dying in an encounter with 3 GA guys, I went and swapped to my M16. After that the day went much better, and I even made it to the threshold of the city with a squad including jester and Ghost, racking up some kills along the way. other than that the day was pretty much average airsoft, exchanging fire here and there, and just trying to get more kills than deaths.
I enjoyed serving under mojo once again (I think my first time since OP24II, my first game), as well as getting to see jester, who is always fun to be around. I also enjoyed getting to put a few faces to names, including Ghost and his squad. There was also a large number of others, but my post is already kind of long winded.

Re: OP: SOCO
Hey, 3rd Platoon was having a blast. We had the cabin locked down Saturday, and we fought to the last breath heck yeah. All this I've read isnt pretty to see. But, please, regardless of what you guys say or do, don't blame it on Airdog or Gunner. I know these people, have been there 3 times, Gunner has a great field, those of you that said it wasn't all that great, you are in the wrong. Airdog always has good games, sometimes things don't go as planned, but they are a great airsoft event organizer either way. Ghost, you know what happened Sunday. We all had fun, I saw you get some headshots with that sniper rifle of yours, I got some kills, epic CQB scene at the Wall (wasn't pretty lol), and just all had fun. The game was fun, the Airdog Staff was good, everything was fun. For those SC players at Alaska (the city/base 3), man that was tough. We pushed right through there, and then got flanked by GA haha I had fun, end of story, game's over, get ready for the next one.
Last game I went to: Redfox, March 29th, 2014

Thanks to all the players for coming out and meeting some of you face to face. Above it all this is a game nothing more or less and it is meant to be fun. I got in this business to watch people have fun because I enjoy the sport of Airsoft and Paintball, Not to become a millionaire trust me. The field is being built on everyday and everything you saw on the the field was built by me and me alone so it does take a little time working alone but it will be bigger and better every time i go to the field. I hope you all had fun and continue to share stories and enjoyed the gameplay, the field. I just wanted to stop in and say thanks from myself and Airdog. - GUNNER

spot on man
i am sorry for any ranting i have done
andy posted on maa that when they(the us military) did an aar they posted 3 thing to sastain(things that are good)and 3 improve (things to make better)
this is mine
SUSTAIN
1 GOOD FRIENDS AND A CAMP FIRE
2 GREAT AIRSOFT ACTION,PLAYERS PLAYING
3 GHOST AND MOOSE PUT THEM TOGETHER YOU GET A GOOSE (AND HEY WE ALL LIKE A GOOD GOOSE NOW AND THEN)
IMPROVE
1 FULL AUTO AT NIGHT (HARD NOT TO CALL 50 HITS/EASY NOT TO SEE YOURSELF MISSING ON SINGLE FIRE)
2 SAFETY KILLS (SOME PLAYERS THINK BY RUNNING INTO A MED,THEY CAN SAFETY KILL A SHOOTER.BUT WHO BROKE THE MED?)
3 SPORTSMANSHIP (I HAVE GRIPED ABOUT OTHERS GRIPES AND I AM SORRY,THIS GAME WAS TO BUILD A PLAYER BASE NOT WRECK IT)
i will say this about my # 2 to improve
if you are in position and i walked up i broke your med and what happens to me is on me,no crying,or ref calling, just pain and a bandaid!
if you run up on me shooting and break the med then you have broken the rules.
i think this is what caused a bunch of the problems.
i had a good time on sat
a good time sat night
and a great time on sunday
andy do you think those to sc players have stopped running yet
and i got shot by rock 5 twice,i must a been
good times guys
great airsoft

On a last note! I just got off the phone with Gunner. He did not want to cause any issue, but I know that if you need trash bags for the trash at the camp, you could have asked for them. He said that he was there until 7:00 last night picking up trash in the SC camp.
It would be best to always carry out what you carry in.
