WE GBB Cycling

Post by Foxx » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:55 pm

I can't seem to figure out whats going on with my WE M1911. Whenever it is very hot outside, my pistol will not do a full cycle when fired. It either fires half-assedly, or not at all.
At first I thought there were leaks in the mags, but upon pressing the release valves I find that they are all still very full of gas. In fact, the valve itself is incredibly hard to push in when this happens.

I've taken this thing apart and cleaned/greased it very thoroughly, but still get the same result only at high temperatures. My only guess is that maybe the heated gas is causing too much pressure for the gun to properly open the release valve. Any suggestions on fixing this? (Other than adding less gas.)

I have checked around my archives for any info on hot temps with cycling issues. I could not find any. I have found that a 5 second charge of green gas/ proper propane to oil mix, has never failed me.
I know that you did not want to hear that you need to time your mag charge but it is the first thing that you should do.
Propane needs time to stablize and above 50 degs.

As part of trouble shooting, I would charge your mag, the same as you have before, and let it sit inside for 5 minutes. Then fire the whole clip into a pillow. Then take the same mag, charge it, let it sit in the hot sun for 5 minutes and shoot it. You will see a true difference.

Then charge it for 4-6 seconds, let sit, then fire it. You will see that it will do fine.

Hot mag = better mag. Cold is the enemy of a gas gun, not heat.

You say it fires half-assedly. Do you mean it blows all the way back but with a very low gas output, or do you mean is only cycles the slide halfway? Both point towards an issue with your blowback unit and/or the seal between the top of the mag and the bottom of the internals.

Sorry, should've been more specific. I meant that a BB will fire at low FPS and the slide will not move an inch.

Will do.

Also, The Great and Powerful Steevo is correct. There is a cup seal just inside of you nozzle, that most do not put enough silicon oil on.
Chek that the mag seal to chamber is soft. If hard it will not seal at all. Also you must use very light weight oil to do your cleaning and lubing. I have seen people use Slick 50, a grease, to lube their guns. It does the same thing.

Keep us updated.

If that seal is dried out but the rest is in good condition then I would simply soak it in silicone oil after massaging the seal a little bit to get it flexible again.

I usually try to soak all the seals I can find in silicon when doing maintenance on it, but (neglectfully) I never did check to see how flexible they were. Time to open 'er back up.
