Star:
Are you still sold on the idea that a softer rubber bucking is better with the Flat-hop due to its ability to cup and conform to the bb well, yet at the expense of longevity of the bucking?

This past week I Flat-hop modded three buckings:
A Promy Red and two kwa 2g buckings.
My G&G Green bucking that I have been using iin my DMR is officially cashed out so I will be Flat-hop modding that bucking this week as well.
Would the thicker rubber buckings of the Promy and G&G do better than the softer rubber of the KWA 2g bucking with the Flat-hop mod and bb's .30 and up?

To my memory, I've not run into a bucking that won't work with a flat hop. That being said, yes, I think that soft buckings are generally better because you can generally get more bucking contacting the bb.

The Promy Red will likely be a bad candidate for a flat hop. I've never seen a bucking as hard as the Promy red. The 2gx buckings are actually just really thin hard buckings. But, because of their thinness, they have been proven to work really well for flat hops.

The G&G green is a soft bucking, and also works very well in flat hops.

As for which performs the best, my guess is you'll get the best out of the KWA buckings. But that could easily be on par with the G&G green. I expect the prometheus red to be the under performer here.

So by this logic, a standard silicone bucking would be better for this than a rubber bucking.

You are all welcome to explore your own buckings and set ups all you want. I am no longer researching the flat hop. Stock buckings work plenty well enough, and if those are bad, I use madbull reds. I haven't tested a silicon bucking, and I haven't tested Promy Reds, as I implied earlier.

Let me know what you find with your own tests. I'm still curious to find out what you find. But I can't test ever possibility under the sun, so I chose what looks to be the most promising, and that happened to not be a Flat Hop.

Appreciate the response Star.
I will use the KWA 2g buckings to start with and then try the others later.
I am thinking that the Promy Red will accommodate the heavy bb's better such as .40's and up, but that is just an educated guess on my part. I will at some point try all of these buckings with all kinds of bb weight to see what happens.
I will get to this after Fulda. Still need to get the FireFly Buffer Rubber or make my own nub.

I'd save yourself some money and just pick up a $1 eraser at walmart or the dollar store. Cut a bit out and cut it to shape and you'll be good to go. If you mess up, don't worry, there's PLENTY of rubber to keep cutting into.
